Vacuum or no vacuum, that is the question. :D
With so many differences of opinion it seems like no definitive answer has been provided. From what I have read, a slight vacuum is meant to exist; however, I have also read many posts, like DEERE's and others, that show a non-vacuum system works...
Jim,
I'm about to order the Heath chip, and from what I understand it has a programmed feature to extend glow time already. Would the glow plug extender mod add any value past the Heath Chip (or, would it be too long to have both)? Thanks.
(Sorry to hijack the thread)
Jon
Tim,
What size heater hose do you use with the 5/8 barb connector? IIRC, when I did the fix the rubber hose was really hard to get onto the alum part of the heater hose. Per an older thread, I removed the quick fit connector, cut the aluminum part of the heater hose & used the 5/8" barb with...
Diamond Eye vs. Warpspeed
I've been eyeballing the Diamond Eye, but it also looks like Warpseed is pretty competitive in terms of price and product. Any strong reason to go one way or another.
Thanks.
Rumor had it that Heath was going to sell a 6.5 CAI, and there were even some pictures of it floating around (also, it was shown in a magazine IIRC).
Anyone know what happened to Heath's product?
x2 for Posi-Lok
At Mammoth Mountain ice and snow had built up while we were skiing and a snow plow had boxed me in. It didn't help that the electrical (I believe mine was thermal) 4x4 actuator disengaged after I turned my truck off. I needed 4x4 badly, but couldn't engage it. STUCK! Not sure...
There is always confession. :rolleyes5:
I spent a whole week in a confessional after driving a Ford. It wasn't really the car- it was that I drove it to Las Vegas.
Why would you want to put a chip from a truck with a manual transmission into an automatic? You can swap the intakes without installing the chip from the F truck. Your truck will throw a code or two b/c your EGR is gone.
In my 94 (in sig) I switched my S intake (upper and lower) to an F intake...
How do you really feel? :lmao:
I totally agree, and I am switching up to a mechanical system for engaging the 4x4. I'll take some pictures of the Posi-Lock install when I do it.
Hi Rob,
Thanks for your post- these steps sound like a cost efficient way to improve air flow. IIRC, somewhere (maybe at the other site) someone had issues about using side vents due to patterns of air flow.
At high speeds, does air flowing from front-to-rear over the vent create some...

Dennis, If you go with red be sure to post a picture. I think it could turn out one of two ways: totally awsome  or like The Shining . Redrum!
Thanks for your input TFMR. About the only functional criticism of the Posi-Lock system that I have found is just what you indicated: it adds to the complexity of engaging 4x4. In other words, you have two sets of levers (on my truck it would be the Posi-Lock cable under the dash and the level...
Primer, It looks like we have the same year truck. Did you purchase the newer actuator, with the harness to retrofit it to our year truck? If so, why didn't you go with the Posi-Lock system?
Jon
4x4 will not engage on my truck. When I shift into 4H nothing happens- front axle is not engaged, no lights are illuminated on the floor 4x4 shifter, etc. I have power going to the actuator, so I believe that the wiring is good but actuator is toast.
After doing some research on the issue, I...
I appreciate posts like TD's (and others) that highlight the best aspects of our trucks. Especially when we are sharing information about performance upgrades. :nanawrench:
Sometimes the sheer volume of ignorant, negative statements about 6.5TDs casts a shadow over my otherwise strong...
x2 about Bill, Ian and all the other Heath staff. Great people and great service:thumbsup:.
What testing are you referring to? Are they testing extended glow times with the Duraterms?
