96 chevy truck transmission engaging issues.

2 wheel drive. I have an extra electric fuel pump for a 6.5 diesel motor, could I rig up some lines and try to run tranns fluid through (maybe warm trans fluid to help flow) the cooling circuit? I think the pump is around 12 psi or so if irc.

The older tranns fluid was a little dark, but the newer one wasn't.

96 chevy truck transmission engaging issues.

I got some more info form my buddy about the timeline of things. He said the issue started all of a sudden, he thought it was the torque converter so replaced that with a new one, issue was still there, then he thought it was the tranns so replaced that with one he bought off of craigslist...

96 chevy truck transmission engaging issues.

Fluid is good, the newer trans was bought off of craigslist so really just taking words that it works, but the problem is the same as the other. The torque converter came with the newer trans so diferent torque converter also but same problem. The solenoids and wiring that your talking about...

Does anyone think the throttle positioning sensor could be a culprit?

Dang, well I don't think that option is open to us with out going to a shop that has one. Looks like those scanners are around $500.

Would one of the readers that auto zone or o'reillys let you borrow be considered a good one? I think the other option would be to take it to a shop but we were wanting to avoid that lol.

We ran a scan tool but there wasn't any codes, it was the cheaper scan tools that auto zone or o'reillys sells.

96 chevy truck transmission engaging issues.

My buddy has a 96 chevy 1500 truck. The motor has to rev to about 2500 rpms for it to drive in reverse. I think it takes about 4k rpms for it to go in forward gears. We swapped out the transmission and torque converter thinking that would work but it didn't. We also changed out the computer...

    Looking for proportioning valve

Well we had a warm day yesterday so I messed with the shoes and sure enough they were loose. I tightend the one side up and can notice a diferance when stopping with out my trailer. It still had low flow out of the bleeder valve but I'll do some more investigating when I get another warm day...

Ok will do, thanks for all the time and info. I'll re-post when I get it taken care of and let you konw what the problem was.

    Looking for proportioning valve

When I bled the brakes I did the 2 man way. I was opening and closing valves while my buddy was pumping brakes. Also we started at back passenger side then back driver side then front passenger side then front driver side. I'll try the things you mentioned, I'll probably check the shoes first...

    Looking for proportioning valve

The new line is the one with the low flow. When I checked the flow I was actually just bleeding the lines at the bleeder valve on the wheel cylinder (passenger side is the low flow side). So the bleeder valve was cracked open a bit. I made between 5 and 10 rounds bleeding all the brakes, The...

    Looking for proportioning valve

When I checked the flow, I checked it at the wheel cylinder but I replaced the line to take that out of the equation. I didn't clean the drum, I did spray pb blaster all over the place to help loosen stuff though. No fluid inside the drum anywhere. I might need to adjust the passenger side shoe...

    Looking for proportioning valve

There isn't a valve of any sort in the rear. The only thing I could see is the main brake line runs down the passenger side frame then runs into a "T" that's mounted on what I think is the rear axle housing (it's the bulky part in the middle of the axle, it may be the diff you were talking...

    Looking for proportioning valve

I waned to edit my last post but don't see the edit button. To be more clear on the stripped bolt. It's the driver side that has the one caliper bolt stripped and I put the lock tight or jb weld on the bolt then screwed it back into place. It is stripped but not completely, it got to where I...

    Looking for proportioning valve

I don't think the brakes stop well enough especially when the road is a little wet and I have my work trailer hooked up (10' enclosed trailer, usually with only tools and light job material). I've slid through a few stop lights that turn yellow at the wrong time and I'm not able to completely...

    Looking for proportioning valve

Amazingly enough of all the threads I've started I don't believe I have started one on my brakes. I do know that in one of the threads I posted about a leaky hydro booster. I'm not sure if that would be related or not to the brakes. But I do have a new hydro booster, I'm just waiting for warmer...

    Looking for proportioning valve

I didn't realize you meant the pin was on the proportioner valve haha....I was trying so hard to visualize a valve on the wheel cylinder but couldn't do it. It's dark here at my house now so I'll have to wait till tomorrow to check for the pin and the bulb. Anyways, I never did anything with the...

    Looking for proportioning valve

I didn't notice anything to be centered. Your talking about the valve that you loosen on the wheel cylinder where the fluid comes out of? If so I didn't do that on any of the bleeder valves. But the brake light is not on, I'm not positive that my vehicle has a brake light though.
