Can someone recommend good batteries for low budget? I think my batteries are on their way out. I checked them with a Harbor Freight load tester, they seem to be ok, but I've woke up a couple mornings after its cold and there is not enough juice to get it started, and it cranks sluggish.
I've...
Yes, it does it in 3rd, but I was almost sure that I felt it do it in D, maybe it just shifted to 3rd. When the RPM drops is that locked up or not locked up? Isnt there a danger of towing in whatever the RPM dropped mode is? I dont want to burn something up.
Since I dont have an EGT (yet) my theory was, if my max boost was 14psi, I would push it to no more than 10 psi sustained and 12 psi for short runs, and that was never WOT. I dont think the temps would have kept climbing, but I didnt want to chance it. As far as the cooling system, it has...
Towed my 35' fifth wheel from Hemet, CA to Houston, TX over 2 days. No problems (other than taking a rock on the windshield in the last 20 miles). Got about 9 mpg.
Phoenix and Tuscon were a bit challenging because it was hot out, about 100 deg. I found that I couldnt get above 45 mph without...
My coolant temps never got above 210, fan comes on about 200. I dont have egt at this point, on my priority list as soon as I sell a kidney, or the IP that I have in the classifieds . It is the original engine, its a 97 so its got the dual thermostats on it. Cooling hasnt been much of a problem...
Ok, I played around with my boost this evening. at WOT and 65mph it spikes to 13 PSI and then drops off to about 10psi. I've got 236K miles on this truck and I dont want to blow it up. Just a little bit of black smoke when I punch it, other than that it looks pretty clean.
Sorry to be a...
Ok, if I'm in D or 3 and I'm going down a hill, say I dunno 50 mph, so my foot is off the pedal, when I slightly tap the brake pedal, just the slightest touch, my rpm drops about 500 rpm. I can feel that its almost like the transmission has disengaged somehow.
Makes it very challenging to use...
we tested it with both the snap-on and my car-code, they both agreed. As far as altitude, I was in bakersfield, ca, so pretty much sea level. I've been driving it all day today, so far no problems starting. I'm still concerned, but I'll give it a few days. The only difference was the temp in...
last I checked the pressure was about 5 psi at idle. I'm out driving around, just did the lift pump test, opened the water drain, steady flow of fuel and engine kept running, had it open for 60 secs or so. I don't have a way right now to check pressure under load, spent my wad on getting ip...
Yes, correctly timed it, its currently sitting at -1.94 tdco (the tech at Jefferson State Diesel in Redding was a saint for letting me instruct on the finer details of timing). the old one had a tdco of +.024 (GM Service tech was clueless). I replaced my old one for essentially the same problem...
So I just went out and tried to start it, its been sitting for maybe 40 minutes, wouldnt start, dumped water over the IP and it started right up... still air bubbles?
I just replaced my IP with a reman from pensacola. My PMD is on the front bumper. Just got done pulling from Redding, temps outside were in the high 90's to 100. I pulled over and the truck sat for about 15-20 minutes and when I tried to start it again, it cranked for probably 6 or 7 seconds and...
I was able to do it without removing anything, If I recall I came at both from the pax side, and the one on the driver side I used a short extension. But your right, it was a pain.
