newbie question regarding LLY tuning and must do mods

Unit453 I was just responding to the For me the fuel savings alone made the install of the V2 well worth the money. Add to that, the improved cooling and not worrying about overheating when pulling lots of weight make it high up on my list of worth while mods.

Larger Tires and Loss of Fuel Mileage

Your odometer readout is now displaying/logging about 4% less than it was with the 245's. I think if you use a GPS now, you will find that your only displaying/logging about 1% less than actual miles traveled with the 265's.

    Correct Tire Pressure

I use the following formula axle weight / number of tires on axle X max air pressure / weight rating of tires used = min tire pressure required ex:5000 lbs axle weight / 2 tires X 80 psi max air / 3042 rating of tire = 65.75 PSI min required......... ex:10000 lbs axle weight / 4 tires X...

    Benefits of GooseNeck Trailer

I pull a tri-axle GN and prefer it over the tandem duals I have hauled. Trailer frame sits wider and seems more stable when loading equipment etc. I find it easier to pull thru the field with a load of hay as well. IMO, a GN handles rough terrain better than a 5th wheel unless you go with a...

    Rear dually tire sizes

Chalk the sidewall of the inside tire and go for a drive. Will help you decide if a spacer is needed or not.

    Rear dually tire sizes

Just a guess but any more than .5" would be risky as you loose lug threads. The spacer would also need to be hub centric with a lip on it that would hold the outside rim hub centric, as the axle tapers at that point.

    Rear dually tire sizes

I ran 235 Uniroyal Laredos HD's without any rubbing unless loaded really heavy and hitting big bumps. I have since moved up to 265's with 2" spacers. I move to the 265's for a higher load rating on the tire.

    Boost Stick?

Has the stick gone bad or is there a difference between the LLY and LBZ boost sticks? Had the LBZ airbox and MAF sensor update done by dealer 2 years ago under OH warranty. I have been running the stick prior to the OH warranty work was done and just recently had to take it off. Since...

whats the most you tow with your 3500

32k GCVW. Tri-axle goose-neck with a loaded 20ft seacan container. Can you say brick on wheels. Used to overheat running into a head wind even with temps close to freezing. Since the install of the V2 w/ fan I only hear the factory fan on long grades with a headwind and 75+ temps

    Gears & Towing

Change your tires to 235/85/16 and don't adjust your speedometer for the tire change. Will make your 4:11's seem very close to 3:73's. Had a '96 that I did this with. Used it hauling 21k worth of hay/trailer 10 or so times a year. Mileage increase while running empty or with lighter loads was...
