    How is a 6.0 ?

I don't think there is any difference in failed HGs issues based on model year. However, there most definitely is a significant increased HG failure rate in tuned trucks.

    How is a 6.0 ?

Yes sir, that would not be fun. It's probably been mentioned in this thread already, but I know there are many folks who claim to have changed head gaskets without removing the cab. So it can be done without cab lifting.

    03 f450 6.o no start when warm

99% of the time with a 6.0, if you have a no start when warm issue, it is because there is a leak someplace in the high pressure oil system. The high pressure oil pump is located in the valley of the engine under the turbo. 2005 and 2006 engines have a stc (snap to connect) fitting between the...

    Treasure trove....with pics

This place is a dead zone compared to the other forums you and I frequent for 6.0 info.

    How is a 6.0 ?

Oasis reports can be had for free on a few of the other Ford forums I frequent. Members of those sites who are Ford service techs will run them and provide you with the report. I believe dealerships run them for free as well, but I don't have any first hand experience with that. Here's a...

    How is a 6.0 ?

Some of the more in-depth engine services require cab removal. However, some repairs for which the removal of the cab is suggested by the Ford Workshop Manuals can actually be done without doing so, it just takes a lot more cussing, swearing, bending and twisting. Slight oil seepage from the...

    How is a 6.0 ?

When considering purchasing a 6.0.... FIRST- Get an OASIS REPORT from Ford (equivalent to GM's VIN report). Do not buy a 6.0 without one. Look for recurring issues and major repairs on the report. If you don't run a programmer / tunes, and the OASIS doesn't show a history of head gasket...

What's the issue with the 6.0?

Incorrect. In my very first post in this thread, post #14, the first thing I suggest is to get an oasis report. There are lemons out there, and the Oasis report is the single most effective way to find them. In that same post I then go on to discuss 95% of the typical 6.0 issues. I NEVER...

What's the issue with the 6.0?

And what is the point? Seems to me that the point of this thread is to instill fear of the 6.0 (based on second hand info) in everyone who considers owning one, and to smash anyone's opinion who might comment to the contrary. This should be named the "Bash the Powerstroke 6.0" forum. It...

What's the issue with the 6.0?

There isn't a sole who has posted in this thread that has put any significant miles on a 6.0 themselves. Everything said is heresay, my cousin's nephew's roommate's brother-in-law knows a guy who... horseshit. Ban me. I'm done. I don't know how to delete my membership, or I would do it...

Done. Say 'hi' to Turbine Doc and JD for me. I'm outta here.

What's the issue with the 6.0?

THANK YOU. THANK YOU. Broad generalizations like this are just plain awesome. :rolleyes5: After I lost my 03 6.0 through the ice, I test drove a couple of LBZ crew cabs and even one Cummins "crew cab". I immediately ruled out the Cummins because there were no used megacabs around, and the...

Powerstroke problems, need a little help

To me that doesn't sound like he's talking about intercooler boots, but I probably just don't make the same assumptions that most folks do.

What's the issue with the 6.0?

Whatever, Micheal. Believe what you want to believe. Everybody is entitled to their opinions.

Powerstroke problems, need a little help

Explain to me how OVERBOOSTING can cause the INTAKE BOOT, which is under VACUUM, to blow off.

What's the issue with the 6.0?

Yeah.... Just talk to somebody who is friends with somebody that knows somebody who works on them. Or better yet, talk to the mechanic for a fleet of 6.0s who has no formal training specifically related to the 6.0. Or even still, talk to Ford service advisers or Ford service technicians that...
