"Different" is an understatement when you consider the electronic (injection pump and automatic transmission)!
So, in addition to the romantic connection with the stick shifter, the hurtles of electronics are huge.
I think the point to get out of all this is that you must not forget that...
If one has to give up the spare underneath... perhaps one could keep the 25 gallon in place and install a suburban 45 gallon tank in the spare tire area? Would it fit?
I put alot of miles on a 6.2na's, they are not a 6.5turbo by any stretch... but they had no trouble getting on down the road... even with 3.42 ring gear n pinion! The 6.2na only had low end torque to offer, because if you wind them up, they run out of air.
I don't have any experience with...
That should be "serial data" not "serial date".
Also, still have "security" light on. Could that also be related to the missing auto-4wd module? Or the fact that we've mixed and matched all kinds of different parts?
Update...
Got a new brake master cylinder to assure I have the right part. There is a much better "feel" in the pedal, but not the only problem if it was a problem.
I believe the hydro-booster is not functioning properly. It still takes way too much pedal force to stop. I have also...
Perhaps the reason is simply that I need to have my head examined by a professional? LOL
Actually started out needing a ride with more seats, but got distracted by a fuel economy experiment. With the exception of having 4wd (instead of 2wd), and a stiffer APP spring, we have most every...
Yeah, that's what I was thinking. But I believe the parts books are confused with this 1500 suburban with big wheels problem. The original mc would have been correct gvw (small wheel 1/2 ton) but is no good due to being to big at mounting face. The donor truck mc is wrong as it was from a 3/4...
Well, two strikes.
The '99 master cylinder (from vacuum booster set-up) has a much larger mounting feature. It will not fit in hydro-boost. See picture (about 1-1/2" vs. 2").
The '99 abs control module (that was originally a part of the project suburban) appears to be toast. If it...
Nickel helps, but you gotta have chrome. I believe the 409 series has enough chrome to make it sufficiently temperature resistant in terms of our exhaust parts.
Another point might be the connection to why people fail exhaust parts that are wrapped with insulation!! Is it because the wrap holds moisture and salt? Or as I suspect, high temperature vs. the steel recipe?? Maybe to settle the discussion, the vendors would have to give up their recipe...
Clearly the aluminizing process (i.e. metalurgical bond) would be much better than any paint as a coating. Whereas the stainless steel would have chromium throughout. The chromium oxidizes and self repairs (until material is all gone, eh?). DieselSlug, I would suspect the base material could...
Leroy - I'm all fixed up for now on exhaust.
Others (and Leroy too) - I am totally in on the stainless steel band clamps vs. cheapo stuff. But I'm not so sold on the stainless pipe, even at similar price to aluminized. I believe the oem was aluminized? I'm also curious what type of...
You should get alot of opinions with that question. Heehee!!
See my albumn for some of my pics. I like the KD especially for the cat.
I suspect whatever you get will sound different after it gets seasoned, it gets softer, looses a tiny tone. That should be true for most I would think...
