4l80e and the differences between years

You are exactly correct. My son is the LS guy and I'm more old school. He told me to use the 4L80E that came out of the donor truck with the engine and that is what we are going to do. I will, very soon, be selling the 6.5, transmission and parts that I was going to bulletproof it with as a...

Thanks for the reply. I will certainly check with the DMV. Here, in Florida, it shouldn't be an issue, hopefully. The fuel tank will be replaced. The engine will be sold along with all the upgrade parts I bought for it. It only has 180K and well cared for so I'm thinking it will sell pretty...

    4l80e rebuild

Ok, so I just went out and looked and both of my speed sensors are on the transmission. In 1997 they plugged the rear hole and put the speed sensor on the transfer case. Hope this helps

    4l80e rebuild

Yes, the drums are interchangeable. Not sure on the speed sensor. I could have sworn that my 93 has both speed sensors on the tranny housing, but it has been too long. Casings changed in 1997 that moved the return cooler line rearward.

    Thanks for having me

I live in Old Town, Florida. I inherited by brother in laws 1993 K2500 with the 6.5 TD. I don't know a thing about this truck other than it has 180,000 miles and it's in decent shape. My shop will be built in the spring where I plan to restore the truck, but till then it's a work truck and I...
