Thanks Les for reposting my pics so they can actually be seen. Steve

Here are the pics of my block (hopefully). Steve

    help ID block

I just picked up this uncracked 14022660 block. I have not checked it myself yet but I am wondering what year it was built. Besides the number cast into the rear drivers side of the block, the only other ID I can find is on the rear block flywheel area which has 2F. Also, this block has no...

    high boost

Well I removed both the MAP sensor from the intake and the baro sensor from the firewall and sprayed them both with brakleen. This seemed to have resolved the issue as my cruise boost at 70mph is back down to 3-4psi which is where it has been previously. I will eventually replace the MAP, but...

    high boost

Update: I drove on the highway today and boost is still on the high side. Cruise set at 70mph, boost is between 6-8psi. When I hammer it, it goes as high as 14 momentarily then hovers around 12 psi. Any other ideas what could be wrong here? I wonder if the MAP sensor could be bad giving the...

    high boost

I just replaced the vac solenoid and it appears to have fixed the problem. I haven't had it on the highway yet, but when I hammer the throttle around town, boost peaks around 8psi, where before it peaked around 12. Thanks for the help.

    high boost

I have tried cleaning the solenoid before with no change. I will check it out again. Thanks.

    high boost

I checked wg solenoid and it is free. I thought that maybe the gauge was going bad, but the first time that this happened, it did code and go to limp mode. The boost gauge moves smoothly, so I suspect that there is nothing stuck. I was thinking a sensor due to the gauge not bouncing around...

    high boost

I have been experiencing high boost lately. On the highway going ~65mph, it is around 6-7psi. At 75mph, I was watching my gauge and while climbing a slight hill, boost got around 16psi. I got off the pedal enough to not code. My boost on the highway on flat ground used to be 2-4psi. I have...

What really is the safe limit?

So, if running a larger more efficient turbo that is creating less backpressure, what would be a safe boost pressure to run without having headstuds on a basically stock motor?

    h1c exhaust q

I am going to disassemble my wh1c to inspect it. I have been soaking the turbine housing with wd-40 for about a week. What is the best way to remove it without damaging the housing, heat and/or tapping it off with a beatstick?

    h1c exhaust q

That is where I am also. I am looking for a low-buck approach to increasing the performance and reliability of my truck. I was not actively looking for a new turbo but the h1c and wh1c that I have now just popped up on CL for cheap so I bought them. Also, they bolt on with minor fabwork...

    h1c exhaust q

I have the complete wh1c turbo, so no need to machine the h1c housing for the larger compressor wheel. Plus the wh1c compressor housing has the slots cut into the intake, not sure what they are called right now (MWE?). What purpose do these serve and are they necessary for a low boost...

    h1c exhaust q

My wh1c actually has a 16cm non-wastegated housing which I was planning to swap onto my h1c with the 21cm housing. After doing some research though, I think that I will run the wh1c due to it having a larger compressor than the h1c, how much larger I am unsure of right now.

    h1c exhaust q

Copy that. Are there any differences between the compressor, turbine or comp. housing?

    h1c exhaust q

Well Craigslist to the rescue again. I just bought a wh1c turbo with a 16cm non-wastegated housing. How does thw wh1c compare to the h1c? Which one would work better/more efficiantly? Steve

    h1c exhaust q

What size exhaust housing do you have? I am still looking for a 16cm for mine. I'll be out of town for another 2 weeks so haven't been able to search for one. Anyone know what type of equipment may have used the H1C with the 16cm housing? I don't think I will have any luck at diesel...

    h1c exhaust q

"The laggy pig" huh? Must be why it was so cheap.... Anywho, so which housing would be more desireable, the wastegated 16 or the non-wastegated 16? From what I have been reading here, the wastegated housing will lag less down low but be more restrictive on the upper end. Is the lag between...

    h1c exhaust q

I am planning on sticking with the non-wastegated housing and running a16cm turbine housing. Turbonators testing with their h1c sounds pretty impressive and looks like the performance upgrade I am looking for. Plus I got it pretty cheap and it is in great shape. I am pretty sure that I have...

    h1c exhaust q

Hey Les. I noticed that also after I looked at the pic. The vanes are fine. I'm not sure what they are called but the larger vanes behind them make them look ef'd up in the pic. Good eye. Steve
