ALL of the new Diesels are plagued with emissions controls....
DPF, DEF injection, SCR... the 5.0 Cummins won't be any different.
I think the LBZ is the last Duramax not saddled with all this, which
is why they are still so high priced. I live in a state that does not
check emissions on Diesels...
The dealers I have spoken to that attempted to flush one, still had oil seeping into coolant after multiple flushes... not to mention, if oil gets into coolant, coolant probably went the other way.
Regardless, I have around 50,000 miles left on the powertrain warranty, I probably won't be in...
Hello all, been awhile, thought I'd check in.
Mother in law needed a car pretty bad, so the Jetta is in her hands now. (And yes, it's involved in the emissions scandal, we're waiting to see how that turns out.)
I don't have a picture handy, but I am in a 2014 Ram EcoDiesel now. Got it late last...
And then what happens? I get truck fever, and it all starts again!!! :mad2:
Seriously, I'd like to come and see....... I'll look in the LA section to see when I can make one
Not giving you a hard time, I have heard a lot of good things about your services.
But if he had a completely failed unit, testing it on your truck would be reasonable....
if it's intermittent, it may be 3 or 4 weeks before the problem showed up again, and
he'd be without a truck all that...
Your truck will run without the lift pump, but it can prematurely wear the IP...
also if you have any tiny leaks between the LP and IP, you could suck in air.
Not saying you don't also need a lift pump, but your symptoms point to a
failing FSD... it's possible that running it with a loose...
That's a pretty involved job.... gotta remove intake, turbo, injector lines, exhaust manifolds,
probably at least have to move AC compressor.... I'm sure I missed a little.
While it's that far, and access is easy, time to change glow plugs and injectors,
also may be easy access to the heater...
Yes.... on mine, with the headlights on, you could see them dim slightly (and see it on the voltage gauge in the cluster)
when the relay cycled. When it went bad, wait to start light still worked, but no dimming of headlights.
Had the Taco for a little over a year now... still like the truck, but I miss having a diesel. :(
Best MPGs I have been able to get so far is 19.5, really taking it easy.... drive it normally,
and MPGs drop to around 17-18. I guess a 2WD Tacoma would get 1 or 2 MPG bettter,
but it's still less...
If you've owned anything built in the last 20 or so years, you've owned
at least partial imports... it's a world economy now, very few things (and almost
no vehicles) are gonna be 100% US made. But I'm not here to debate the merits
of the truck, just showing what I've got now... I like it...
True, but they can't make the gasoline without pulling the Diesel out....
the ULSD requirements are increasing the price of Diesel also..
If the price of Diesel and gas would have just remained EVEN, never mind
lower than gas where it should be, I probably would have stayed with the
oil...
