When we set up the big brakes the first time we had an Alpha in the shop, and wonder of wonder, they have big brakes with the same brackets. So it was pretty simple.
Seems to me they used a bigger brake in the back too, but I have to go back in my notes, getting a bit of CRS now-a-day. That...
Yes, you do lose the E-Brake. I wasn't keen on it, but this one is a Dune Toy and aptly prone to faulty inputs by the loose nut on the wheel that may negate the usefulness of any braking assist.
Here's a peek at the LSX 454 powered dune toy on it's way to get some tuning.
Big Wilwood brakes front and rear, full cage attached to the frame through the body, 4 suspension seats with harnesses'. Wicked fast.
King, if you look through the pics you'll get a good idea of how we do it. That Wilwood kit is nice and we put it together as simple as we could.
For serious stopping, we put the big brakes on the back of the LSX Hummer, It locks all 4 wheels up (37 inch swampers)
I'm sure I fiddled it around to get clearance, but it's really close. On the first one I "adjusted" the oil pan a little after I noticed a paint scratch after the boss was doing some extreme launches.
About the same time I made solid mounts for it too. Just that one though truck though.
All I...
Yeah, don't break the glass. Unless the body is off it will need to tilt to get in. We've done it enough that Carl and I can sit one in about 5 minutes. The mounts are near the balance point so it sits nice without fear of it tearing the mounts. A couple of threaded posts off the adapter plate...
This is the rigging I use taking the Motor in and out. In this picture the head is coming off. Same rigging.
It allows for tilting and rotating and is pretty close to the balance point.
Harder to see the plate on the intake, but it's the only picture I have of it.
As far as the cherry picker...
These are the mods to the upper Radiator snout on the Thermostat housing, it gets me up and around the Tensioner. The Nipple is for the rear coolant bypass.
Note the A/C - Alt mounting plate in the second picture. you can see the upper standoffs for the A/C compressor and the spacing standoffs...
Sandy, I made a lower snout that exits out and down and mate up to the stock lower Radiator tube. I do have to lengthen the tube slightly, but it ends up looking stock.
These pics are from the Original H1 I posted. and shows the lower hose snout. I'll find a picture of the mod I'm making now...
Saw the question about the brackets. If you look close the A/C pump is mounted to a 1/4" plate sandwiched to the block between lower Radiator hose snout. The lower Alt bracket is fabbed to mount from the two upper bolts on the pump and the pivot is on the plate that holds the Tensioner. It...
No, I don't mind and long as the moderators don't. I like the "Keeping it in one place" concept. It allows people a chance to compare ideas a little more easily I think.
The hyd pump looks good, if you need vacuum there are electric pumps available.
As far as Cummins gaskets, most of which are...
You are right, there has been a lot of testing done, and in the racing world air dams and baffles are key components that with any additional help can be an advantage.
For the hummers with the canted radiator setups, a compromise was made to get the most area into a small space and as the...
Here is some temp numbers I did take while looking running the truck after a road test.
The first pic is Temp on the Turbo compressor outlet
The Second pic is of the temp on the Intake plenum
The Third Pic is the Condenser
The fourth pic is temp at the Charge Cooler
