How many v8 diesels are marketed today WITHOUT a center mounted turbo...
It's not just flow restriction and balancing flow (those are of benefit however) but you also get a shorter path from the exhaust valve to the turbine wheel as well as the ability to run a functioning twin scroll exhaust...
Good luck!!! Sounds like a fun project. Consider the possibility of a better flowing pre-turbo exhaust setup (read-slightly custom) sounds like the effort would be well worth it in a project of this magnitude.
I would bet dollars to donuts it is. To my knowledge holset/CTT only have 1 single scroll turbine housing for the 35/40 chra and it's on the hx35g so don't expect the 40s turbine wheel to fit the housing without some tinkering
You don't need a qsv to spool an hx40. Unless it's got a huge uncommon turbine housing, a tune for said turbo should be all you need. If you want to pick up some boost threshold with that setup, look into ceramic coatings, manifold porting, exhaust wrap, turbo blankets... Basically anything to...
He could, but he's concerned with the AT&T not flowing enough air. Using it as a the big turbo in a compound setup won't help. With as much fuel as he's talking, an hx40/ht60 setup sounds pretty reasonable.
The other thing not mentioned is that, sure the db/ds pumps may not put out a ton of fuel in stock form, if you increase the efficiency of the combustion, you require LESS fuel to hit your target/goal so a wussy pump is less of an issue.
I've decided to compile a list of parts available for the Holset turbos out there. These part numbers have been verified by me to be available from ANY CUMMINS DEALER OR DISTRIBUTOR. All you need to do is give the parts guy this Cummins part number and he can order it for you. No pricing is...
No exhaust is the best exhaust [for power] on a turbocharged engine...
Not sure how or why exhaust length or diameter would make any difference... Especially since idle speed is monitored and controlled by the ECM. Or am I wrong? It's happened before :)
JiFaire, no harm no foul. I've been on car forums for too long to take anything personally on the interwebs. I just found myself starting to rant on something that was taking this particular thread waaaaayyyyy off course. That's why my reply was so short. It was alot more long winded before I...
This thread is about penninsular's turbo. I derailed it. Sorry. I'll cry about lack of specs in a more appropriate time/place if I still need to :)
Carry on gents.
So does one have to sign a non-disclosure agreement when they buy an ATT? I mean, why is the wheel sizing such a big damn secret? NO ONE wants to share any information about this turbo. Very cloak and dagger. And when confronted with this fact, all slim does is talk about proven results (which...
The black bolt in the canister is what controls the preload. Not the threaded control end. But I do agree that adjusting them both properly will allow you to adjust when the valve starts to open. Why are you wanting to adjust this? Wanting lower boost? Good luck with your testing. Also, if...
I disagree with these two gentlemen with turbo choice. If you're looking for better highway acceleration with minimal smoke, go with an hx35. It's right in between their recommendations and would be a great compromise between better highway acceleration and low smoke levels. Plus, if you want...
