My son put one of the other Inj pumps we had in and it fixed the stuttering and smoking. He got it right at -1.93 right off the bat. no adjusted needed. How lucky can you get. Now I just need to turn down my turbo master. I keep getting a p0236. Other than that it's running better than ever (at...
Just installed them. The machine shop gapped them when they resleeved the block and balanced everything. When my son pulled the pistons on Friday he checked the gapping of the rings and they were all within spec.
My son started pulling the IP and found one of the sensors came off the IP. Can we just reconnect? One screw is there. I have an old ip that I can scavenge from.
After reconnecting everything and topping off the coolant, it is still smoking. When we started it with no belt there was a puff of smoke and then it cleared up. So with the belt on it smokes and stutters. I think we'll take the belt off and run it a little longer to see if it smokes. It has new...
That's how I think I put them on. My son took the pistons out and I had him take them to the machine shop to make sure the rings were on correctly and that there were no visible issues.
I will post shortly. Basically the key kept the HB in synch with the crank however the outer ring would move about 2 inches or so before catching and turning the crank. Now that I'm thinking about it all the timing components are gears and a chain and nothing there will cause a timing code. If...
I think we found the problem. When we pulled the harmonic balancer off to get at the timing chain we noticed the harmonic balancer was broken. It had play in it. So when you start it the pulley moves a couple inches before it catches. It then smokes and stumbles and throws a timing code. The...
My son got the engine pulled yesterday and the pistons out today. He checked the rings and the gaps and they are all within spec. The cylinder walls don't have any scratches / scoring. I had him take them to the machine shop just to inspect them and see if they can see any issues with them.
Got the heads checked and they are good. Spoke the the 6.5 rebuilder at the machine shop and he said the compression difference on each bank points to the rings. They are gapless. There is a chance my son installed them wrong. Out it comes.
No. My son has been doing most of the work. The problem is he just moved to Idaho last week so I'm back to working on it solo. I am thinking about getting a military optimizer take out or if I'm lucky a p400 if they're taking them out yet. Then I'll try and get this one dialed in and put it in...
