mostly on the 01s. and a few 02s. i replaced em on my 02 in the spring. they were very bad. hardly any gasket left on the rears

after i was done, i had to bring a couple of sockets back to sears for replacement. somehow, some weld happened to attach itself to one side of the socket.:D weird, i know! so, i fixed it up to make it look like they were cracked, and voila! brandy new ones. thanks craftsman!!!

especially when the heads on the bolts are already stripped out. and the mechanic blames it on the salt eating it away.... :mad2::mad2::mad2::mad2::mad2::mad2::icon_bs:

i agree with Vinny. it will take the best part of a weekend. for removal of the injectors, i just used a small cats paw type tool, almost like a crow bar. very small, maybe 6" long, and 1/2" wide. oh, and good luck with the valve cover bolts, top and bottom, on the driver side by the fire wall.

i was thinkin about that, but from what i know, thermostats usually fail closed, right? i have to get to them one of these days to replace the gasket that surrounds them, so i could check em out

coolant never really dropped in level, but i did notice that after i did them, it ran cooler than normal, and that was in the spring and summer too. im thinkin that it was a combonation of the combustion chamber directly heating the coolant, and really old coolant. i pretty much flushed it out...

i know Steve touched on this a little for his trip to Colorado, but i have a semi different question. This winter season, i have noticed in temps 30*and colder, my truck struggles to make 120*, and even more so to stay there. i havent had this issue in years past, even with no winter cover...
