This is a timely thread, HH. I need to drain and replace the rear diff fluid in my DMax, and was looking for an alternative to the $$$ GM grapejuice.

I'm thinking smoke switch as well, but hope that I am wrong. Did the truck come with gauges? Any evidence of a pyrometer plug on the passenger side exhaust manifold?

Be sure to run the codes and find out what tripped the CEL so that you can correct the problem as needed. We can help track that down.

If replacing the NSBU switch does not correct the problem, post up here. My problem ended up being installation errors inside my Merchant built transmission, but the symptoms mimicked a bad NSBU.

Probably, if you can find a willing truck owner and have cash. Your best best might be a local truck stop or diesel pickup accessory shop.

I do exactly what Mike does.

It gets passed through the filters over and over again, but I don't see any filtration benefit after the first pass through. 3 microns is still 3 microns. Its not like something slipped through the first time and will get caught later, correct?

Thank the moronic tree huggers. We are sitting on 500+ years of domestic petroleum that we cannot access. Instead we use a tax subsidized alternative that is less efficient and eats up fuel lines in older engines.
