That was a good read by Darin . One of the items I wrestle with is comparing gas to diesel boost numbers and the resulting gains or losses from boost . Not really impressed with turbo numbers as I could put one on a weedeater and make power . More of a NA guy but I don't overlook the results...

My heads are in the 230-240 range . Crane regrind is 198 /202 and .440/.450 lift . The stock dual plane intake is about 20 cfm down from the single which is about 200 cfm . I think what Chris said is true but for the 1% that want to push it , heads and cam work will be on order .

I had the Rhoads lifters in a BBC a long time ago . They were interesting to adjust and sounded like a solid lifter .

Years ago the company I worked for had Ford 555 backhoes that were heated using a dipstick heater . Pull the dipstick out , insert heater and plug in . They worked pretty good for what they were . I think Napa had them .

Most of them should ohm around .8 or .9 .

You don't need to remove all the parts . 90 degree crank and #1 on TDC , rotate about 45 degrees and the pistons should be down in the bores enough to rotate the cam if needed .

Are you able to fabricate ? Could you make a bracket that mounts onto the starter , where the bolts go into the starter , and wraps around to one of the trans bolts ?

Yes , that looks right . You should be able to find that on your truck . See if you can remove the old one .
