Yes the water issue has been figured out. It never got into the oil that we can tell. The oil is not milky. Hopefully the black permatex will do the trick.

Not really. Like I said, I'm used to driving a newer quiet diesel. What made me think is a guy who also drives a newer diesel said it sounds like it has a knock. I thought it sounded normal but I started second guessing myself. Anyone else want to post your sound for comparison?

Just installed them. The machine shop gapped them when they resleeved the block and balanced everything. When my son pulled the pistons on Friday he checked the gapping of the rings and they were all within spec.

After reconnecting everything and topping off the coolant, it is still smoking. When we started it with no belt there was a puff of smoke and then it cleared up. So with the belt on it smokes and stutters. I think we'll take the belt off and run it a little longer to see if it smokes. It has new...
