How do you all get 6.2s to 300K miles

I would still pull the inner door panel and have a look see at the inner skin of the door. see what your previous damage is. sometimes it's just a whisky dent and rather than pull it, bondo it... worst case is it was pealed open like a tin can. tack welded and bondo. it will tell you if...

    Square Body Steering column Swap

I would suggest looking for a good donor parts truck, but there is a big problem with that for me!! I brought one home not needing another truck but was given the opportunity. within about a month I had the donor running and driving. fell in love with it and to this day still drive it LOL...

    Square Body Steering column Swap

So the 86-87 square body won't work? for the turn signal that has built in wiper function, you should be able to just swap out with your existing switch in the column. If I understood your last post correctly, your style column uses a clamp on lower mount on the engine side of the firewall...

    Square Body Steering column Swap

I did a quick search on the Bay of Fleas (eBay) and found a few in the range of 250-350 pre-owned. also found one new aftermarket for $200. https://www.ebay.com/sch/i.html?_nkw=86+chevy+c+10+steering+column&_sacat=0&_from=R40&_trksid=p4624852.m570.l1311

How do you all get 6.2s to 300K miles

I think AK is right. the door is sprung from an accident. could have been replaced at one point. back then no two body panels or doors were the same. so if you tried to do a door or body panel replacement especially from a used donor, likely they would never perfectly line up. you can get...

    Pinion Seal Leaking

Welcome @LinePilot it would be cheap insurance to replace, but at least check them. when you pull the driveshaft off the rear yolk you can remove two of the caps. if it looks dry at all, it's time to replace them. Oh and I see your from the great state of Texas! nice to see a fellow...

How do you all get 6.2s to 300K miles

the additive is mainly to restore lost compression and oil consumption through the rings in the case of blowby. if your engine is running good, no blow by I would just leave it with the oil and no additives.

    K47 filter w/ 4" tubing

Hadn't thought about it till now, but an exhaust shop can take an elbow in stainless or steel and expand it to fit the filter. maybe even put a ridge in it for the filter box too.

    K47 filter w/ 4" tubing

finding a d-max, cummins , powerstroke in the jy is as rare as hens teeth around these parts!

    Rocker Panels

depends on what you want to spend, but going a little hillbilly with some fiberglass work, bondo and a rattle can of 2k color matched paint will last a few years. post some pics so we know what were working with. if there is a pick a part yard locally you can use a battery powered sheet metal...

How do you all get 6.2s to 300K miles

the cooler the air the more condensed it is plus higher humidity helps too. you were getting enriched air. on the fuel gauge, it's possible it's got a bad spot where once the level reaches the failed area on the float level sensor the gauge drops out.

    K47 filter w/ 4" tubing

Not sure about the factory elbow since I don't have one, but my filter is fitted over the end of a iirc 3" sewer PVC elbow. the bell end (larger) is what the filter is fitted over and the other end is smaller kinda like a street 90 the rubber boot to the turbo fits over. what I would do is...

    My new truck

Curious while you have yours open, how do you measure wear on the rockers or the shaft. pushrods too. I figure measuring the shaft between where the rockers ride and don't ride, but on the valve end and pushrod ends how is wear measured and when they would be deemed too far gone and still good?

Problem on my Winnebago, 6.5 L65. Potential fuel leak back and bad battery?

Make sure the sock is not clogged inside the tank! most of us pull and eliminate that sock on the pickup tube then run a pre-filter before it gose into the lift pump. I would get one of those clear inline filters so you can see when it has muck in it. when eliminating the sock you can...

How do you all get 6.2s to 300K miles

something is drawing too much on that circuit. check your tail light bulbs. could be the socket contacts and the little nubs on the bulbs. simple fix is to replace the bulbs. that or it's getting moisture in the socket and if it has been snowing where you got salt up in there too, that...

What did you do with your GMT400 today...or yesterday....

Haven't heard of this before. looks like my local walmart has it in 16oz bottles. from the directions I will need two with an oil change.

What did you do with your GMT400 today...or yesterday....

Ya know, it's a silly thought, but I wonder if that can of restore I used on this engine might have partially plugged up one of the lifters! I think I have doused it twice now with the oil changes. Maybe the cleaner/flush will do the trick.

How do you all get 6.2s to 300K miles

Changing the oil from 15w40 to 5w40 does not change the thickness. your still running sae 40. the number in front of the 40 is a number given to oil for how it acts in different temperatures. 5w will stay more like sae 40 in colder temps where at 15w will thicken up under colder...
