GMT800 Rear Inner Brake Pad or Rotor Issue

So, OEM rotors are 30mm thick. Thats just over 1 and 1/8-inches. The current garbage I've been running measures 3/4 of an inch. So what brand rotors are good off of RockAuto? Am I stuck with GM Genuine for $140each?

GMT800 Rear Inner Brake Pad or Rotor Issue

Not entirely sure whats wrong yet, but it doesn't look right. Look at how the new pad sits in in the mount on each side of the rotor. Notice a big difference? If you can't tell via pad and mount, look at where the rotor rides in the opening of the bracket! Its not centered even woth the...

    My 2005 Yukon XL

Got the fan override switches mounted. Need to get the probes in the radiator fins and wire it up, then its off to the fine tuning.

    My 2005 Yukon XL

Had a click, no crank, no start. Upon further inspection arcing at the starter solenoid. Cleaned up all connections and douched in Fluid Film. NY is why we can't have nice things. All is well in life again. Also swapped out the B1S2 with another delco after reading the live data. Nice...

    My 2005 Yukon XL

Yep, I did previously replace it. With supposed Genuine GM. First was replaced in July 2024 and the second was October 2024 (both banks). Need to get the scanner hooked up and see what the voltage output is before I order another. Of course its a week to get another OEM unit. Was thinking about...

    My 2005 Yukon XL

Had a code come up yesterday, P0137 bank 1 sensor 2. Not sure if I have ever replaced that O2, will have to inspect closer.

    My 2005 Yukon XL

Well we will see how this unit holds up. I've got to go to another O'Reillys and grab a second one. Also may have struck a deal on the parts truck I got the front differential from. Hope to harvest the steering gear and pump from it.

I watch Eric O. with South Main Auto (SMA) quite a bit on the YouTube. His video from this weekend hit the spot with me.

    My 2005 Yukon XL

I haven't had any TTX stuff fail yet, but really only have maybe 6k-miles on the Yukon stuff. Did put some stuff on my old F250 that was still going when I sold it. I actually had an AC Delco O2 sensor fail out of the box. Had the laser etched numbers just as the replacements did so it seemed...

Only way to find quality, is after the fact service life is am learning. I went TTX for my front bearings. Wish they did pads and rotors......

    My 2005 Yukon XL

I had to go back and confirm because it was irritating me. I didn't document it in this thread well, but I purchased the rotors and pads off eBay May 24th, 2024. They were from Detroit Axle Company. Not super cheap trash parts, but not crazy expensive either. Thought I was getting a middle of...

    My 2005 Yukon XL

Took the Yukon to work today instead of the company truck. Smelled of warm brakes on the back passenger. Upon further inspection the slide pins were bound. Looking closer the stupid little rubber boots are darn near disintegrated! I think I redid these brakes 2-3 years ago completely with new...

    My 2005 Yukon XL

Dug further into the Hayden fan controller option. The main reason I wiped this off at the moment was I intended for all speeds to be completely automatic. To do this I would need 2 Hayden 3653 units. See unit here...

    My 2005 Yukon XL

Finally tackled the drivers heated seat. It was the upper that burned out. We got hot buns now, will see how long the Amazon seat elements last! Such a sad world we live in. Id rather rest my luck with junkyard used OEM parts over brand new aftermarket garbage. Local stores are loosing my...

    My 2005 Yukon XL

You are correct. I did think about this, and ultimately may do it as well. Only reason I was going to do the switch for now is I plan to add some A-Pillar lights to aid with plowing at night. I had hoped to get those done before this winter, but it got cold fast as it always does....

    My 2005 Yukon XL

Normally I don't like doing stuff like this, but with my only other option being to "re-tune" the computer, its just not worth it. I have been having issues towing and plowing with temps mainly due to the electric fan setup and its "triggering" parameters in the computer. By the time fans are...

    My 2005 Yukon XL

Picked up 3 of the best looking junkyard OEM coils yesterday. Put another on last night, so far a total of 3 I have replaced with the junkyard units. All have great arc now when pulling the boot except for 1 remaining gray one. Will swap that one out too but the Yukon made the 2 hour trip with...

I got my first truck back…

I too was sucked into the dud steering box and pump debacle from crap local stores and Rock Auto. I've swapped gearboxes twice and both rebuilds have IMO excessive play. I've swapped steering pumps as my original rotted out (should have done more to save it). Both pumps I installed struggled to...

    My 2005 Yukon XL

I'm sure, I would like to know what manufacturer the gray ones are from. It would be very tough to relocate, would need coil harness extensions, plus longer plug wires as they mount directly on the valve covers themselves. So you can still get AC Delco units, issue is when in a bind, nobody has...

    2003 Tahoe w/ 4.8 V8

The 4.8 is a good engine just as the 5.3 and 6.0 of that era, would be a reliable rig if maintenance has been done. Check warm oil pressure, common the pickup tube O-ring gets brittle and cracks resulting in lower oil pressures. Some of the earlier GMT800s have what they call piston slap on cold...
