While this does seem to make sense, I can only say I've been driving the truck with the OS bump, and the TDCO at -1.76 for over a year now, with no problems or codes, until this episode.
If the truck can be driven without the OS harness plugged in, then there's no telling how long I've been...
Did a fair amount of driving this afternoon and evening.........NO codes, thankfully. And running fine. Starting better(less cranking time) than it has in a while also.
I'm assuming the bulk of those codes were caused by the stall at speed?
Did the VIN check thing at the other place...
Yes. My undying gratitude, that and a $1.89 should get ya a cup of coffee at any Denny's:thumbsup::D
Just went for a long drive, all seems well, so I guess I can put this issue in the archives.
Alot of aggravation over a silly little thing, but it still gives some peace of mind having...
Pretty sure I've found the problem.......
It speaks to the importance of not breaking those little clips off of the connection ends of harnesses.
OS harness had broken clip, apparently over time it vibrated apart and was laying in the valley. Of course it wasnt the first thing I...
One of the first things I always do is check grounds. You guys, have made me so anal about the grounds, I even added a few when I relocated the pass side battery.
I have had an intermittent problem with the starter not engaging when I hit the key> Figured it was just a solenoid going bad on...
I had an issue with the(PMD) harness over a year ago, come to think of it. Acted similar, but it would just die. And start again without a limp mode. But it certainly bears checking.
Makes sense on the codes.
Literally just got the thing into the shop about an hour ago so will get to diagnosing tomorrow morn. LP will be first to get checked, but it isnt very old, think I installed it back in June.
I had been using the wal mart TCW3 but was reading things about the blue...
Did a fairly light duty tow to tallahassee yesterday, roughly 450 miles one way.
Today, return trip, empty. Got to within 50 miles of home.
70 mph in mid lane change(to right, thankfully) a bad stumble, and stall.
SES light stays on constant. Truck starts, but seems to be in limp mode...
There may be other differences between 2x4 and 4x4.
The one I am aware of is that the transmission output speed sensor (TOSS) is of a different type, and sends a different type of signal to the ECM. The TOSS is located in the transfer case on the 4x4's.
This is the biggest bug in doing a...
Gauge never really worked when installed six months ago, fooling around with it was backburnered. Needle was always pinned at the high end upon applying power. Dealt with customer service(Faze gauge, by Sunpro), etc, etc, etc. No go...
Replaced the batteries yesterday, and the gauge has come...
That does give a great deal of info, including the "born on date", like my Budweiser....But since my truck was built in Nov of '93, I guess it's a year older than I thought.
That page tells me mine is also the only one of it's kind, out of 10,003 built. I'm starting to have doubts as to the...
TCM from a "Y" code 6.5 is what you need. GM part # is 16196390. I saw some on car-part.com in the $40-60.00 range, when I was looking months ago. Wayyyy cheaper than the custom standalones.
DB2 TPS wont work, IIRC, you need the sensor from the P van that fits in the dizzy/vac pump slot for...
I've been down this road as well. The problem that I encountered was the lack of a TOSS(trans output speed sensor) on the 4X4, which is mounted on the transfer case '94 and up. I noticed rtdhsp has a '95 4X4 in his signature.
If anyone has found a work around for this problem, please do...
I know my setup wouldnt be for everyone, but, FWIW> I used a 22 gallon tank from a '67-72 vintage truck with the in cab tank. I eliminated the rear seat from my cab, as I use that rear section to carry my tools, etc. The old tank fits like a glove against the rear wall of the newer cab. I put...
No problem, I got roped into helping a friend move over the weekend. Didnt get to work on it anyway.
Hoping to solve the problem before it leaves me stranded, is all.
I'd still love to have that photo if possible. I'm getting a consistent code 21 at start up now. Also getting a symptom that either IS, or is mimicking a failing starter solenoid. Not sure if it is the solenoid, (starter was replaced four months ago)or if this has something to do with a failing...
Well, no codes today. But I'm never one to have the kind of luck where problems magically fix themselves. This is the type of thing that likes to bite me when I'm 200 miles from home. Any other suggestions?.......
