Help! too much smoke and fuel knock?

yes thats what i thought. ok so my PMD is sitting on a bracket which lays it flat right next to and level with the air intake. there is not a heat sink on it or near it. would it be ok to move in the cab or bumper without the heat sink?

Help! too much smoke and fuel knock?

do you have any pictures of it? i dont think mine has a head synce. or i could be possibly talking about something other than the PMD. its a little black box that was mounted to the IP.

Help! too much smoke and fuel knock?

so if i take the harness that came with my relocation kit, chop it in half, and lengthen the wire it will be fine? does the pmd ground using the bolts that hold it down? its already moved off the IP. also will water be a problem for the PMD being mounted in the bumper? or should i mount it in...

well these injectors were supposed to be new i belive, and from ssd. they only have 595 miles on them which is why im puzzled.

    identifying gm turbo

i go at everything with the attitude that anything is possible :) and i dont expect a whole lot of performance out of this truck. its is already the sickest 6.5 in my hometown. i would like to be able to haul my 97 silverado behind it with ease and take it cross country without a fear in all...

    identifying gm turbo

i dont think my truck will go over 80 with its gearing before it redlines. i know it will hit seventy super quick though, atleast for what it is anyways. and all this 18 PSI bussines is not a fact guys, its just what my gauge reads. but it sounds and feels like 18 to me! it sounds nothing like...

    identifying gm turbo

i did not know that about SSD. i do know that their cold air intake IMO is not a very good idea or design. and everything i hear about their marine injectors is that they are terrible. and the pmd location kit they sell. so all in all from everything i have heard most of the things they have...

    identifying gm turbo

hmm, well im unsure if i mentioned it but im really a cummins guy myself. but i want to learn more about the 6.5 since i hate dodge trucks. i think it would be cool to change to a totally different injection pump, bigger lift pump, really high flow injectors, lower compression, and a way better...

its some upgraded ssdiesel ecm and their " 80 HP" chip. im not really fond of anything that comes from SSD, but my friend was. so you can put my truck down all you want...ill probly agree with everything someone says negative about SSD lol.

well aside from the problems i have mentioned she is running great at 18. i have only hit 18 once though and usually it doesnt go over 10 psi because i drive it like an old man lol. i will probly give it a little more throttle after i figure out this knocking business. but otherwise its code free!

i would assume the upgraded ECM and chip would be considered a tune. and it already has gauges. i have not heard of ditching the vaccume set up yet.

    identifying gm turbo

yeah i can imagine. i was shocked to see this one at 18 psi. i thought i read 9 psi being too much for a stock 6.5. the only upgrade from stock on this thing is the arp head bolts which i thought would make more boost ok to have. if it were mine at the time of building the motor i would have...

Help! too much smoke and fuel knock?

yes i know. after i fix my knock, or during, id like to relocate it further away from the engine if possible. it has a connecter extension and mounting plate about level with the intake. i was wondering if i could cut that extension and lengthin the wires so that i could move it to maybe the...

    identifying gm turbo

what i am asking is just what the motor would handle, id like to switch to a better turbo lol. i dont have an intercooler yet but the way this truck is it doesnt look very hard to build a set up for it :)

    identifying gm turbo

well the gm turbo on this thing out of the box is running 18 if its mashed to the floor. it also has the ECM and chip so that is probly why? so you think 30psi would be a safe number on my truck? i dont " drag race " it or anything. most of the time it doesnt go over 10 psi now.

Help! too much smoke and fuel knock?

hmm ill have to check out this guy local to me. id really like to not have much down time on this truck. i want to tear apart the 97 in my sig soon, then the 94 will be DD. i think it has to be those injectors. the lower end is new so it just doesnt sound like it could be an actual rod knock...

well im at work and photo bucket is blocked here :( i guess it will have to wait. any idea on what kind of psi a 6.5 can safley and reliable handle with nothing more done than injectors and arp head bolts?

Help! too much smoke and fuel knock?

you think that will fix it? i heard some one talking about shimming them to 2200 psi or something like that? this is one area im unsure of what people are telling me. i got the part down where i need to pull the injectors out and take them somewhere lol. but what do i ask to have done exactly? i...
