I used aircraft stripper to get rid of the failing clear, then sanded out most of the pitting with 2000 grit wet sandpaper and steel wool. I could have spent more time on them, but hey, it's a truck :) I may polish them one day when I have the time..or maybe not. It took about 6 hours for the...
I figured I'd try cleaning up my wheels before I buy new rubber. I should have done this sooner! Here are a few pics. Not sure at this time if I'm going to polish them or what.
edit: I had more pics, but they were to big to load
I've been diesel for many years, 5.7, 6.2, 6.5 and now Dmax. I've used all kinds of oil, and found full synthetic 0-40 the best for me. I use it year round and change oil every 15 thousand miles or so.
Just an update: I picked up some blue spray from the dealer today and sprayed it to the back side of the pads. It's really sticky stuff once it sets up. All noise is gone for now. Guess it keeps the pads from rattling around when it's stuck to the calliper. See how long this lasts.
Here is a small vid on the play I have on the drivers front where the loudest rattle comes from.

Grady, I see you've been where I am now haha. I may have to bite the bullet and just start replacing everything!!! It's crazy when it all looks good, performs good but rattles and squeeeels like a stuck pig.
Better stereo hahaha.
The pads are like new, don't know the brand. I think I have too much play on the ears and that's whats causing the front driver side to rattle. As for the squealing rears, I really have no idea.
I think whats going to happen is I'm going to find another set of pads and...
Front brake rattle and rear brake squealing is what I'm fighting. I've pulled all brakes/callipers/pads off to clean grease and replace the bushings and I'm still not satisfied.
If you know something about these truck's brakes, post here and lets start a discussion.
So I'm a Mobile Washer on the side during the summer months. I go around and wash houses, residential and commercial buildings etc. I couldn't believe how messy my undercarriage was hahaha. I washed a house on Saturday and couldn't park on the concrete because of the fuel leak hahaha.
Today...
Well fella's, here is an update. I found the leak and fixed it. The return lines looked good but found an injector was leaking from where the hard line is screwed on. I was able to tighten it up a bit to stop the leak. Nice when things work out as good as this.
Thanks for the encouraging...
I have an injector leaking from the top. Never had to pull one out. Is the steel line just tightened to it? It's leaking pretty good and I feel like tightening it to see if thats all it needs. Sorry if this seems like a dumb question. I'll upload a pic.
Oh, it's the 2nd one from the front on...
So here's my problem. I'm a do it yourself kind of guy with most everything. I know I can fix this, but don't have the time these days. I'm far to cheap and proud to bring it to a shop hahaha so I'll keep leaking diesel wherever I stop haha. I have holidays in a month so it's gonna get fixed...
Thanks for the reply's guys. Yes, the truck still has prime and starts and drives like normal. Whats not normal is the smell of diesel in the cab and the dripping when I'm parked. At first I thought it was an oil leak from the front diff but now I see it's diesel. Looks like I'm going to...
Got a pretty good fuel leak from the drivers side if the engine. Everything from the engine back is wet including the rear bumper haha.
Could this be a return line issue? Anyone have a vid or pics of what I'm about to get into? Thanks.
Well the fuel leak has been fixed. It was a return line that was installed wrong by someone or even the factory who knows. It wasn't in in the factory plastic clip, but between the truck floor and tank. It rubbed a whole in the line. I tried to weld it, but it burned through so I cut that...
