Just wanting to check it out. It's the original pump, and I have had lousy fuel mileage and seemingly intermittent power. No real issues, just preventative. I want to pull the camper a fair bit this summer, so I want all hands on deck so to speak.
Good to hear from you!
I am wondering if there are procedures and measurements(via scanner) to determine whether or not my IP is in good shape or on it's way out. I would like to have some solid indicators prior to changing it.
Thanks,
Mike
I know your truck is obdI, but I checked for stock ecm updates for my truck and one of the corrections in the new program was idle surge. Just a thought, maybe a reflash is in order.
Our trucks are supposed to smell like diesel pigs, I like it! I also like having diesel all over my hands and then when I get in the whole truck smells like raw diesel! Wooohooo! On a serious note, you own diesel, thats par for the course.
I know there is foam and all that stuff going on in your tank if it is not under vacuum, but I gutted my fuel cap 3 years ago and have never had any issues. Knock on wood!
Stupid question, but, did you run the truck after you checked the oil when you first did the change? The level could be good until you start it and fill the filter up. Just a thought. The low coolant sensor is on the reservoir.
I meant no offense, you did a great job, I just don't like them. right now I have 2 that are burnt out, and I really don't feel like changing them. I thought about getting the white versions, but it just doesn't seem like it's worth spending the money right now. I will do it some day, but not...
I always find it hard to take my truck away. Just feels like your burning money paying someone to do stuff you are capable of doing. I agree with PG, do what you can yourself, put the money towards fun stuff ................... or pay bills.
There is a resistor that sits in the plug of the PMD/FSD. You can get resistors with different values, #5 being the stock value, #9 being the so called "high perf" value.
You just got me thinking, I have had some surging issues. Phoned the dealer and they charge 50 bucks for reflashing stock program. Sounds like it would be worth a shot.
Sucking air or lack of fuel ie. Lift pump or plugged tank sock. Simple things to check out. Start with the easy stuff and work your way to the more complex.
Fill out the diagnostic checklist for a more thorough explaination of your problem.
Somebody will have the anwser for you.
Hi guys, here's the story: my injection pump is getting long in the tooth and will need to be replaced soon, starting to lose some throttle response. What I would like to know is: is there a way we can check to see the mileage on an IP after it has been swapped out? I have 2 - DS4831-5288 pumps...
I live in canada too. I have ordered from pensacola before with no issues. He will pay some exchange and brokerage crossing borders and stuff, but not near what he will pay for a pump here. It is still worth it and they ship very fast. I highly recommend dealing with them.
Let's not forget at idle if the vacuum pump system is working properly, the wastegate should be closed at. It shouldn't move easily when the truck is running. Sounds like you have a leak or a bad pump. Check this out for a DIY solution...
Ok then, good! Thanks for the responses so quickly.
One more question. With trans temp guage, what is the max temp. that we can run before smoking the fluid?
Hi everyone! I tried a search on the subject, but couldn't find anything.
I just bought a travel trailer a couple of weeks ago and was wondering what the consesus is on towing in overdrive. My truck has 3.73 gears and I would like to know what the majority think. I haven't got a trans guage...
