On my LLY I spray bombed the tail section with high temp black BBQ paint, looked good, until you could see where I didnt paint the rest of the system black. I say paint it all black it'd look great, that paint is rated for 1200* degrees, it should hold up. Mine was still looking good 6 months...
I flew into Denver, from there I jumped on a shuttle bus to Ft Collins. I think at that point it was closer to take I-25 to Cheyenne. Driving through Nebraska and Iowa is enough to make anyone want to kill themselves. The only gripe I've got about this truck other than the tires, is the radio...
I got 13 mpg, in Colorad, Wyoming, and Nebraska. 14.2 mpg through Iowa, and Illiniois, going off how far this recent tank got me so far on the miles, I think I'll be in the 14.5 - 15 mpg neighborhood, the DIC and been dead on with hand calculations so far. Im happy with it. Its got some junky...
Cool, Im getting a 08 CC/SB GMC SLT as well, I fly out to Denver tommorow to go it, hopefully, I know I'll like it, I just hope the mileage isnt to bad with it.
If you dont have a decent Snap on guy or other tools like Milwaukee, Dewalt, lots of other companies wont honor the warranty unless it was purchased new at a brick and mortar store. Theres exceptions to every rule though.
Only downside is that alot of times thing you buy of ebay dont come with a warranty even if brand new. But I do agree its a nice place to pick up tools at a deep discount.
I thought a Diesel Sub would be a good idea, then I thought deeper, anyone in the market for a Diesel burban is already likely to purchase a crew cab Duramax, in leu of a Suburban Duramax, if they really need the Suburban they'll buy one, if not there buy a crew cab. A Diesel Suburban would...
If your only torqueing them to 80ft/lbs, I think thats your problem. The spec I beleive is in the high 140's, 147 or 146ft/lbs, and clean up the thread good with a brush before you torque the lugs down. Try that and hopefully that will work for you.
You got any other questions just ask or shoot me a PM and I can give you a call. Somtimes its alot easier to explain on the phone, I know when I was getting all the pieces together to start the conversion, I had headaches just thinking about it, but its really easy once you get the ball rolling.
lol. I sold my duramax, now I dont have a way to tow it to my new house to work on.):h I shoulda towed it down here then sold my duramax, I put the cart in front of the horse again.:mad2:
I had that problem when trying to change the wheels on my now old 05, after dinking around with a sledge and different ideas for an hour, here's what works best.
Take 4 or 6 of the lug nuts, either the opposing side or sides on. Back them off 1/4 of the way. Drop it on the ground and rock...
Took me 15 hours to do, taking my time and drinking, 2 nights after work and a good part of Saturday the first time I did it. The only thing I screwed up was the lower valve cover gasket, I should of tacked it to the valve cover with RTV them put it in place, but I didnt so of course it didnt...
Mines never run hot, infact I have never even approached 200*, even with a gooseneck and truck loaded up, racing home. Only con I can think of is I'd like the 6 speed Alli, other wise I wouldnt say not pick a LBZ over a LLY or vice versa.
