Personally I like the LB7 the best of all the editions, mainly due to the lack of emissions controls and the excellent mileage compared to the LLY. But as far as reliability the LLY may be the best choice..... I say buy the truck, rip it apart, get a cutting torch and hacksaw and a welder and...
the LLY and LB7 are almost identical in dimensions. I would get an LLY over the LB7 only for the injector issue. But either will work great. Would you rebuild the tranny yourself to stage 3/4 specs? Thats still a pricey thing, While it is out you could just put a transgo shift kit in and a...
just rebuild it when you get it and put in new injectors/cups and add a extra fuel filtration like fass or airdog. then you will be set. 162k really is not a lot though, so if money is tight I would just get it in there and run it like it is.
The wifie and I just got back from her hometown of Millinocket Maine for the past 9 days. First time I have ever been sleding and I must say it was a blast! We rode a friends (two) AC 550 touring sleds. Felt very heavy to me, given he said they weigh about 800-900lbs. Snow was about waist...
whats the fluid look like (color, smell, level). Have you dropped the pan and checked the filter for being properly seated? Or any metal inside the pan? I would start there before anything. How did you check the converter?
yes 01-02's were prone to head gasket failure as well as injector failure. if your going with an LB7 just upgrade your filtration system to one like airdog or fass to help prevent injector failure. keep your coolant changed per the owners manual is the only suggestion I have for the head...
If you drive your truck quite a bit or depend on it for making a living I say yes. But if you are getting a daily driver and the truck sits a lot I would save that money for a rainy day and hope/pray you dont get one.
i cant say anything since my s10 has had the same quaker state full syn in it for the past 5 years.... given its gone maybe 5 miles... and ran for maybe 15minutes.... in the last 4 years it hasnt even been turned over.... soon that will change though!
well guys I have completed the rebuild (finally). was not as difficult as expected really just used every bit of patience I had! anyway all I have left is two seals(front pump I think thats what its called and the tailshaft. The internals of the tranny looked like they only had maybe 15k on...
amsoil has my vote! I have almost finished my 86 s10 blazer and im going all amsoil throughout, even though i will never drive the thing on the road till my nissan dies!
