What are your summer vacation plans?

The wife has her 30th HS reunion coming up in July and wants to head out to Idaho to attend. Money is tight though, and she might have to go solo.

What sort of gear head DIY shows do you watch?

Don't watch TV much at all. I once lost the remote and left the TV on the Weather Channel for five years.

What are your biggest pet peeves when it comes to other motorists?

Driving with hazards on is required if you're going 15 (or more) under the posted speed from what I've been told. Not pulling over and calling for a tow when your front end starts falling apart is just criminal stupidity. And yeah, if you tow frequently (weekly or more) then leaving the hitch...

What are your biggest pet peeves when it comes to other motorists?

If that extra 8-10" of iron sticking out from your truck is all it took to prevent you from taking any damage then two thoughts spring to mind: The impact speed was so low you probably wouldn't have taken any damage anyway If you didn't have that 8-10" of extra iron back there you probably...

What are your biggest pet peeves when it comes to other motorists?

Already got 'em. It don't help. The worst was tearing up the front end on a rental car on one of those things. It was dark, raining, and the fwonking thing was painted all black. Ir was on an F-250 crew cab and was one of those 27lb. monsters I described. The truck by itself is long enough...

BTDT, got the scars to prove it.

What are your biggest pet peeves when it comes to other motorists?

I checked other, because I see it as sort of an "All Of The Above (Plus)" choice. all of the above plus... idiots who are on the acceleration lane behind you, then pull out and pass you in the lane you're trying to merge into drivers who do not understand the concept of "Yield" drivers who...

With fuel prices still rising, what have you tried to increase your fuel mileage?

There's only two ways to improve fuel mileage on my GMC, aerodynamics or gear ratio. Neither is likely to happen.

What brand of battery do you have in your car/truck right now?

Kirkland (Costco brand) in both trucks. Two in the GMC, one in the Dakota. Made for Costco by Johnson Controls, same company that makes a lot of the big name batteries already in the poll. The one in the Dakota is about 6 years old now, still going strong. The two in the GMC are two years...

How about your reaction to the current fuel prices?

Said it on another forum and I'll say it again here. If they'd just find a way to make political bullshit an energy source we'd be energy independent by dinner time.

Where do you purchase the majority of your diesel fuel?

Valero station less than a mile from the house has the lowest price within 25 miles.

How many sets of injectors has your truck(s) gone through?

1999 GMC with the "F" 6.5 TD and 96k on the clock. Still with the originals but, oddly enough, when I changed glow plugs last month they were aftermarket. I'm the second owner on the truck and it had spent it's whole life in West Palm Beach before I bought it with 68k on it. No idea who...

Is your daily driver manual or automatic & how many speeds?

4L80E in my GMC, not sure what's in the wife's Dakota but I think it's the 46RE

I'd love to read it and see some pics of the finished installation.

    bracket needed

That looks pretty close, but getting the spacers right (for belt alignment) will be critical to avoiding premature belt wear. Also, did you get the hose bracket? If not, what are your plans for supporting the upper radiator hose?

    bracket needed

Try gmpartsdistributor.com I've got the bracket, the pulley and the hose support in my basket there.

    bracket needed

gmpartsdirect.com shows all the parts as being in stock. Total of about $150 with shipping to my door. Just waiting for the wife to get her W-2 and file our taxes before I order it and the second alternator.

    bracket needed

Even old threads have good info. :) I still have not found a bracket for mine though, and I really need it now. The truck is up to nine radios now. If you find one fastjohnny, see if they have two.
