From the pics and chart on pirate the type a is SRW, type b is DRW. Apparrently, this is only his code for them. From what he says, the hub can be swapped in the housing, just use the right axle. Snipped a pic of the hubs A on left. Biggest differences seem to be width and axle lengths.
Did that, drums are behind a flange ring, according to pics and info from Pirate it is a Type A used on C/K and vans above a certain GVW. Type B is the version for Dually and C-C's plus 'A few others' he did not list.
I looked in the Master RPO list; the JB8 is a 10k lb rated disc/drum brake system so prolly the 3.5" wide, only thing heavier is a couple of JH's in disc/disc. Mine is a JD7 which is 8400 lb rated disc/drum brake system, sub note "except F44 is 9000 lb" which mine is, (that's a heavy duty...
You might google Aussie Locker. They go in an open carrier tho. They lock up kind of like the gov loc, BUT, cam lock not clutch lock. Downside, slight clicking when turning tight.
OK, for the rear end, I found this link, has pretty much everything you need to know about these "corporate 14"s

OK, think I got it, pull the bolts and the pinion/bearing assy pulls out the front. Will look. So---is it just called the "corporate 14" or ????? Or do I just call it the 8 lug?
I was out last week with my head under the hood, wife came out with some cassettes she dubbed from CD for me, asked "How's the spare?". I went back to winch it down and couldn't turn the crank. Soaked in PB over nite and when I got the spare out it had the GM delivery tag on it from 1994 and...
OK guys, RPO code is G80. Was told rear end is 14 bolt Dana 70 but that don't work. Per pics looking at the back of the 70 the tall point would be to the drivers side of center. Mine has tall part on passenger side of center--14 bolt pattern tho. Best I found was something about a...
Jay, highest and best use of a fluid damper is as a one time maintenance item--should last the life of the engine. Will also extend the life of the belt, tensioner and accessories.
Nicely put schiker, just consider a drum mounted in a rubber ring, the drum still sounds but the stand it is mounted to will not. The harmonic balancer is outside the end support of the crank and has little effect on internal crankshaft vibration. It DOES dampen rotating surges and pulses...
Some isolators are very complex. My Bounder Class A had a 60 pound control box and four switches on the dash. Had four 1500 amp 6 volt batteries tied in pairs plus the start battery across the front bumper. There was an A/B switch, a Batt off switch, an Int/Ext charge switch and an Emergency...
I still need my vac pump but had done this in other applications.. Make a flat bracket that bolts where the vac pump was, get an idler pully, use long bolt and spacer to align. If you do it right you should still use the stock belt and the angles to the other pulleys remain the same.
These are 12 volt systems not 24/12 or 12/6. The batteries should be hard wired in parallel--+ to + and - to -. Alternator output goes to + on drivers side battery and the main cables to starter and fuse panel come from + on passenger side. Both - cables go to engine with strap grounds from...
I have read a number of the posts here re exhaust. One is that come body styles resonate the sound, another is that tip extension reduces noise inside, a third is that if the noise is back-out and away you hardly hear it inside. My truck is now 4" straight back from the down tube adapter. Its...
