Swapping broken 6.2 for newer 6.2

It wasn't the lines. It was the IP wire that warwagon was talking about. It's the one towards the bottom of the picture. I believe that's the IP solenoid? I unhooked the wire there and ran an alligator clip from battery to that clip and it started and ran for awhile till I unhooked it. When I...

Swapping broken 6.2 for newer 6.2

Dang, ok. I will try the lines from the other motor since I have them on already. I'll wait to see if it works though before I try the other injectors. Actually the guy that told me to do that was this diesel mechanic in my area. It's kind of scary though because that's all he does is the...

Swapping broken 6.2 for newer 6.2

Ya I bent them out of the way, but they didn't really bend. That's how the guy I bought my IP from told me how to do it. Is that bad?

Swapping broken 6.2 for newer 6.2

I only swapped the IP, I left the injector lines and injectors on it. It was a pretty clean job though, I took it off the other motor and right on the newer one. The truck runs fine when it starts. It idles fine and sounds fine, but I haven't checked the smoke though. I can do that in the...

Swapping broken 6.2 for newer 6.2

I got the injector lines switched out but while I was bleeding the lines I ran into another little setback. The positive side of the battery started smoking and when I got to it the starter wire, other positive wire from other battery and a couple washers had been "tack" welded together. I guess...

Swapping broken 6.2 for newer 6.2

I don't have an RPM gauge to tell. The IP isn't that old though, it's probably about 4 months or 10-15,000 miles old. Also it was on the old motor I had back when it worked, and it ran fine then. But I guess that doesn't mean it can't happen so soon.

Swapping broken 6.2 for newer 6.2

Boyces said they did a test run on the motor before shipping, they said they hook them up to radiators and make sure they don't leak or anything like that. But I guess it's apparent I have a problem with the fuel system right? The guy I bought my IP from said he checks injectors for free though...

Swapping broken 6.2 for newer 6.2

OK, I have an extra set perhaps I'll start there and switch them if their still leaking. If not I'll do the sightglass thing.

Swapping broken 6.2 for newer 6.2

I did notice a couple of the injectors were leaking fuel while the motors on. I tried to tighten them up but they were already pretty tight, but I manged to get a few more turns out of them. But I haven't had a chance to see if they were still leaking or not. If so, could air leak in from them...

There's a full tank in her. What is sightglass?

Swapping broken 6.2 for newer 6.2

I believe I have a mechanical pump because there is no gauge anywhere to tell me the pressure. Is the pump the thing at the bottom driver side of motor with the fuel lines going to it? The alt. works but I don't think it charges above 11v or 12v. So I think it will need to be changed here...

Swapping broken 6.2 for newer 6.2

Checked the pink wire for 12v with key on and it was good. I couldn't get the truck started though to check it while running but I'd assume it's the same, maybe. I didn't see a connector though, the pink wire and a green wire (green wire plugs into the 2 plugs on the IP, pink wire connects to...

Swapping broken 6.2 for newer 6.2

Well I started it again this morning. IT ran again for about 2 minutes then shutoff. Once it shuts off it won't start again till awhile later. I also noticed that about the time it shut off smog/smoke/steam (I don't know which one) came out of the intake.

I also started it up when I got off of work and it started but died while I had the RPM's up after about 2 minutes. Any ideas on why that might be?

Swapping broken 6.2 for newer 6.2

I fired it up first thing this morning, after having one of the batteries on slow charge all night. I floored the gas like you said and it started, so I held the rpm's up for about 2 minutes but when I let go to see if it would run on it's own it died, and wouldn't start back up. The battery...

Swapping broken 6.2 for newer 6.2

HAHA...gotcha, that's enough info for me to say hell no to the starting fluid. We are getting fuel from the injector lines, when we cracked them I stopped when the fuel was coming out. We cracked the lines where they go into the injectors. As far as a lift pump goes, I don't know where or...

Swapping broken 6.2 for newer 6.2

Ok, I had it up and running after bleeding the injector lines twice and moving the IP a little. It ran for about a minute then made a knocking noise (I thought was maybe because the oil was drained so it took a bit to spread the oil around?) for a couple seconds then ran about 20 more seconds...

So the regular fuel you get at gas stations is bad for the DB2 (is that the IP)? What kind of additives do you put in the fuel? As far as the swap goes I'm almost done, works been keeping me busy luckily. I think we have about an hour left. Just 2 tailpipe to exhaust bolts (which we can't get...

Swapping broken 6.2 for newer 6.2

I don't know what ULSD is but I'm thinking it's the off road fuel? And I don't know what the DB2 is either, but I'm thinking it's the model IP I have. My grandpa makes a bio diesel fuel. I think he uses methanol, lye, some additive, and used cooking oil (he lives in the country so I believe...
