That's kind of what I was wondering about it being "normal". So I'm fine with that...haha.
The tamp gauge is under a year old. I thought about it being suspect but it read 205 one morning then when I put the 180 stat in it read lower, so I figured it was ok.
I have noticed now with the new...
I'm not too worried about the gas mileage if its a mile or so difference. As long as it will run strong then I'll be ok. I think I read at a couple places that the 6.2 originally had a 180* stat then they switched to 195* later for emissions control.
I did hear from someone that the 6.5 stat...
I think this is a very odd concern but my motors running about 30 degrees colder than normal.
I switched the fan clutch the other day because my motor was originally running between 195 - 205 and it hasn't even hit summer temps yet (that's with a load).
After switching the fan clutch the...
Hello, I have some power steering fluid leaking out of what I think is the gear box but I'm not sore on that. Whatever it is, it sits at the bottom end of the steering shaft. The picture is from the bottom since above it is too cramed with hose and stuff. So I guess if anyone can tell me what...
I suppose the correct fix would be to do what your saying, but since it's just an old work truck I'll leave the GP's on the switch. Also I did change all the GP's to the 60g ones. There was a few that were hard to get out, did they get swollen from overheating?
Well koot, the way in the video was very easy and worked great. I thought the GP controller worked differently, i thought it turned the GP circuit on/off therefore I was trying to figure out how to take it out and wire everything together, if that makes sense. Once you replied I realized how...
Cool, thanks for the info. My controller is faulty though so the video procedure wouldn't be the way to go for me right? Even though I like that method because you get the light and the loud click. Also I have the older type of controller, it's a cylinder shape, about 5 inches tall, and the...
I was looking for the tut earlier, someone explained to me how to do it awhile back but I can't seem to find it.
I can use the existing wires that run to the glows now right? Just grab the 2 main leads running to each side of the glows and run them into the cab on a momentary button then run...
Is it possible that some of the GP's went bad from being on to long and the block heater heats everything up enough to only need a couple GP's to start? It starts fast and fine when plugged in though. And after the first start of the day it will start later after cooling down all the way (cool...
For some reason my truck won't start unless it's plugged in for awhile. I woke up today and forgot to plug it in last night, but it's like 68* right now. It cranks real fast, and that's all it does. It doesn't even sound like it's trying to go. Any suggestions?
A couple things:
1) My glow...
I'm going to have to wait a day or two to do the blow by test. We got a couple inches of snow, 18* weather and 24 mph sustained winds. Haha...and to top it off I've lived in florida my whole life except for the past 4 years, so I'm not completely broken in yet.
How do you check the blow by? I think I read some where that you can take a soda bottle with some water in it and a clear plastic tube. Stick the plastic tube over the oil dipstick tube (with dipstick removed of course). Then rev your motor to 2000 rpms and I think the waters supposed to do...
Maybe I'm calling it the wrong part. The air breather that sits on top of the intake, has a hole (I called it a port) where it looks like the silencer would connect into. I don't plug that hole right? It would cut off the air intake.
My silencer is missing then. All I have is the air breather with the open port on it, but nothing connecting to that. Perhaps I should find one.
Also I noticed the smoke coming out of the filler tube with the cap off right after i started the truck.
I'm not sure how many miles are on the...
The intake silencer is going to be the air breather right? If so, then I believe everythings hooked up right. Maybe the CDR is clogged or something, or maybe the air filter is clogged?
I didn't know the blow by was from that. That's good to know.
It was too dark when I got home to see the smoke so I'll have to wait till in the morning.
No white slimy stuff on the sides of filler tube. I'll test tommorrow on a short run and long run when I can see the smoke.
I just changed the oil the oil 2 days ago, but haven't payed attention to see...
I have smoke coming out of my oil filler tube and the intake (only when the air breather off). The oil filler cap isn't a regular one, I bought this motor from boyces so I'm guessing it's some military cap. But it looks like a miniature keg in shape, and it's a little bigger than an injector in...
Oh ok, I don't know what I was thinking...haha. So the sending unit is called OPS (oil pressure something)? As far as replacing, is it as easy as unscrewing the old one out and screwing the new one in?
