BTW, pulling load at heavy throttle pre and post Turbo EGT's, on my truck, maybe between 50 - 80 deg. difference. Normal driving shows little if any difference. The gauges are twin Autometer's.
Slim if it is defueling it is not to a point that I can tell. IAT's very seldom get that high. Like I said in previous that is the max I have seen. Still, I am trying to save up for an ATT.
Mine is a GM4 turbo. I run max of 15psi boost normally which goes to about 18psi when towing 10+k. In 85-90 degree outside temps with AC on I have never seen coolant temps pass 200 degree F. My IAT's go to about 220 max with no defueling. Temps and Boost recorded GMTD ScanTech. EGT's have not...
What fitting is used for the top of the IP. I had an old IP so I have already enlarged the holes under the filter screen inlet. I can't seem to find a fitting that is larger. What am I looking for. BTW I plan to use the Walbro FRB5-1 to complete the project. Thanks for any help!
I ran the second tank very sensibly. It actually came out to just over 18&1/2 mpg. The engine has about 10K on it and the injectors have about 2k on them. I really like the chip. Did not use the TCC lockup switch at all. With this chip somewhere between 40 and 45 mph, depending on how hard you...
Just finished my second tank of fuel with the chip. Between the two milage is up about 1&3/4 mpg. Not bad considering first tank really did not stand a chance. That brings the truck in my sig to just under 18 mpg.
Sorry Bison! Knock was what kept coming to my mind. I'm on my third engine in three and a half years. Possibly my fears overtook my senses. At times the sound was audible while sitting behind the wheel with what sounded like a knock. When Matt gave his description he helped the way that I listened.
Maybe there is something missing, I don't know. I am running a GM4 and my truck and camper together gross about 18K. My coolant temps have never passed 200deg F and my EGT's have not gone past 1000deg F. Of course mountains in NC are just hills compared to some parts of the country. Yet the heat...
For what it's worth, once I got the sound taken care of I took about 4" of 3/8" fuel line and split it and put it on all my injector lines and now all of the pinging and whatever is gone. With that along with the GL4 chip I put in a week ago my engine sounds totally tight. I pulled up to a...
Thanks Missy! When I pressed down on the heat shield the sound did diminish somewhat. So I started pressing and wiggling on the lines and suddenly the sound would go away. That got me to looking and one of the clamps had slipped and the line going to the supposedly noisy injector was touching...
I love this thread only it makes me want the ATT and the bucks are just not there. At least I can think about the light at the end of the tunnel and have sweet dreams at night knowing that there is still more to come.
I rebuilt the injectors myself that I was running before and had no problems. Then I started doubting my work and had another set "professionally" rebuilt and this is where I am at now.
Yeah Matt, that's it. Sounds like a hollow tin can ringing. I've got a 3 foot long screwdriver I use as a stethascope and it is the only one that sounds like that.
Injectors went in middle of February this year(2009) Truck runs good even at idle just rattling on the one injector. RPM's smooth, fuel equal on all injectors according to GMTD Scantech. Injector noise stops at about 800 - 900 rpm.
I seem to have a knocking coming from my #4 injector. You can feel the vibration on the injector line. This seems to be only at idle or slightly above. When I use my GMTDScan software and turn that injector off the sound goes away. Would this be a good indication of a bad injector? My truck...
