Went for a 1,800 mile round trip drive to Ohio and back over the 4th of July weekend. Everything went great, no problems at all. I averaged 18 MPG with the cruise set on 70-75 the whole way. The odometer rolled over 244,000 on the way home.
The ambient temp last night, here in SE GA, was about 75ish while I was seeing 102 on the pump motor. I wasn't really worried about the fuel temp, I know it gets warmed up at the FFM anyway. I was talking more about the temp of the electric motor that runs the fuel pump, it was 25 degrees or so...
If you need your truck back on the road quick, the ATT is basically a "bolt on" replacement for the GM-X turbo. It comes with great instructions, but the short story is this. You will need to cut an inch or two out of your stock oil drain line and cut 6" or so off your upper intake. Other than...
I finally got around to installing my extra fuel filter and HO lift pump last night. No issues, no leaks, and the truck runs a lot better at full throttle. Pictures will be up soon.
My question is this.... How warm should the motor on the LP get? It's a Holley blue style, diesel compatable...
You should be getting better MPG than that..... My 95, 2WD dually with 4.10's averaged 14.7 around town and idling quite a bit. On the highway with the cruise set on 75 it would average 17.5 mpg.
But a worn out turbo will definately kill MPG and power
I would say definately go with the ATT!!!! With what you do with your truck, the ATT would be the best option for replacing your worn out GM-5. You won't regret upgrading to the ATT at all. I had an ATT on the 95 in my sig and will definately get one for the Suburban in my sig too, as soon as...
I got the same thing yesterday. My suburban was sitting in front of the diesel pump while I swiped my debit card and I heard "hey, you know that's a diesel pump right?" Yea....thanks for the help lol.
It's running great. There is a world of difference in power, the chip is the last upgrade that I have done, everything else in my signature was already in place when I installed the chip.
Mileage stayed the same, as far as I can tell so far anyway. I have not put a ton of miles on the new chip...
That was my thought too.... All decisions for fuel delivery, timing, shift scheduling, etc all come from the chip, so other than the driver, there shouldn't be anything that as to "adapt" to the particulars of the new chip.
He does.... Part of the paperwork that came with the chip described a...
I pieced together a severe duty fan clutch and d-max fan from rock auto.... $182 shipped.
Seems to work great for me, the temp gauge doesn't move off of 190-195 even towing with the A/C on the 95-100 degree day's we have here. When the fan is locked up it sounds like a prop airplane taking off.
My 94 Suburban is pressurized. The radiator cap sits on top the overflow/surge tank on the firewall.
Geez Aces.... you posted twice while I was writing the two sentences above. :WTF:
I would remove them too, that's how I did it when I did my valve cover gaskets. It will make it 100 times easier to get the covers off and back on without the new gasket sliding out of place.
Also, while you have the lower intake off, you can replace the rubber fuel lines pretty easy, they...
Yea, I am tracking it will be a different temp pre vs post turbo.
I wasn't expecting to "max out" on EGT's...... More or less I was just under the impression, from reading other's posts, that the "max performance" tune that I got would have higher EGT's than what I am seeing so far. I know...
Not sure I have a problem here, just looking for your thoughts/opinions. I bought a Heath P-series chip a few days ago and installed it, everything is great with the chip. Got around to installing my EGT gauge tonight and went for a ride. I mounted the thermocouple in the exhaust elbow of my...
AC Delco OPS, if you can find one in stock at the parts stores.
.42 psi? that's incredibly low, provided you aren't checking at the return line. Just for clarification, you should be checking pressure at the inlet of the IP. You should have at least 4-5 psi at idle.
Not trying to hi-jack the thread.... Just want to make sure we all have a better understanding of these timing related questions.
This is what I was referring to.... Mine always shows 3.5 actual when I command time learn. The TDCO was set to -.35 when I got the truck and even after rotating...
The current military maintenance thought process is to "replace forward and repair in the rear", which is to get the equipment "back in the fight" as quick as possible.
Example: A hummer starts losing coolant and smoking white..... let's say for arguments sake it's a bad head gasket. The...
You can't change base timing, it is controlled by the ECM and the stepper motor inside the IP. You can rotate the IP all over, the ECM will "adjust" to get the desired base timing.
TDCO is a different animal than base timing, it is what you are "setting" by moving the IP and then commanding...
