OK, so it's just sort of "free wheelin"? That makes sense.
Yeah, years ago I looked into electrics and they didn't pull anywhere near enough air as compared to the stock fan.
Maybe I'll just take it off and see what happens. As long as I watch the temps, there shouldn't be a problem. I'm...
Another thread got me thinking about my fan. I just ran around for about 15 minutes and temps never went over 190* (according to my ScanGaugeII). When I got back in the driveway (temp at 186*), I popped the hood and saw the fan was spinning. I kicked on the high idle switch and the temp got...
Yes, you need a data pkg for an iPhone. They won't let you have one w/o it. But, all you need is a phone with Bluetooth if you get one of those FM-broadcast thingies to give you hands-free. Bluetooth is different/independent of a "data pkg". If you current phone doesn't have BT, most new...
Thanks for the info - that was good stuff to read.
As for the chart - yes, I agree - no real difference. The middle two can really be thrown out, anyways, since they are done with the wrong sized housing (a size that was not intended by Slim Shady to be used). And, just to reiterate, I've...
I'm not sure. My engine is louder than most - there's no way I can hear the fan running. I suppose I could wire in a light, but it works well enough that I haven't worried about it. I agree with your statement, too - I like that he's upfront about things.
Wow, I really didn't think that the weight difference would be that much (whether it's 22 or 18 - both are significantly lighter). That's a good amount of unsprung weight that can be lopped off.
Has anyone ever weighed the standard, 16" steel rim and compared it against the weight of the "PYO" aluminum rims that showed up around 2001? I assume the Al has to thicker than the steel so I'm wondering if there is actually any weight savings?
Don't know. I was just simply passing along some info. I don't now enough about the process and if there is any difference in how well the ceramic holds up in each application. Maybe no difference at all.
That's pretty slick!
Just an FYI... I had my manifolds ceramic coated by JET. They refused to do the inside of the mani's because of having a turbo. They said there is a possibility, however slight, that if the coating came off it could mess up the turbo.
FYI, here was my experience with rear drums. http://www.thetruckstop.us/forum/showthread.php?29240-Tightening-Rear-Brake-Drum-Retaining-Nut There's more info about the actual drums at the later part of the thread.
I ended up buying the drums through NAPA for $97/each, but later found the...
Hey - just saw "formely JK Auto"... Hi Joe!
I don't know - something's up. Theoretically, you should be getting even better mileage than me since you have a 21:1 (is the 1500 lighter than the 2500, too?).
I get that 14mpg consistently (and I fill up about 35-40 gallons at a time so it's a...
I think something's off there, as well (driving style?) with the 6.5. I don't get as good of MPG as some of the pickup truck guys, but even in winter I get a solid 14MPG around town. I rarely get a chance to do any type of distance on the highway unloaded, but last year I did a small trip...
You disconnected the entire fuse box to the left of the instrument cluster? If not, start pulling fuses one at a time to find the offending circuit. You can also pull fuses from the box under the hood.
When my engine was getting done, I looked around for fancy valve covers. Like Leroy, I couldn't find any. I ended up just having them painted a different color than the block.
I can't comment on how good the DMax LP is, but for what it's worth, that Walbro that Leroy sells will be the one that goes into my truck. Between reading LOT'S of good info about it and what my local fuel injection shop says about Walbro's, I'm convinced. Again, I'm not saying the DMax one is...
I'm not saying don't check it, but I think you'd here a sound change if you had a leak between the turbo and intake. I've had a few of those silicone couplings come off - I have an IC so there's more possibilities. Every time it happened, it was immediately noticeable. The sound varied...
