I'm curious about this, too. But I'll say right up front that if Tim is happy with Goodridge... that's a good enough endorsement for me!
I bought a front/rear set from Summit (I think it was made by Russell) recently, but the SS hoses are too short so that has to go back. If I searched...
Mine is a 3.5" in/out. I have NO problems AT ALL with flow. I wouldn't mind having a larger pipe, but it would just be for looks. A larger pipe won't give any more performance - sort of a "diminishing returns" thing. What I might do is just put a bigger tip on it.
Resto, if you haven't gotten anything yet, I have Kennedy's system. I wanted EXACTLY what you are saying about an exhaust system. I really like his system. I had another on there before and I had some droning at highway speeds - not awful, but some. With JK's, it's VERY nice. Let me put it...
To expand on the electric fan issue. IIRC (maybe someone can correct me if I'm wrong) the stock fan in my '98 moves somewhere between 10,000 and 12,000 CFM. The last time I checked, electric fans were nowhere near that.
I'm going to be online very sporadically over the next week and half as I won't always have access to the internet (or decent cell coverage) up here on the coast of Maine. So, please don't take offense if I don't respond to something right away.
As far as tuning goes (and thanks for the...
Yes, you guys are right about the low boost thing. I'm not sure why I worded my post that way. We were rushing to get out the door for vacation..... You know how that goes!
So, let me re-explain:
There were absolutely no drivability problems, at any throttle input. The turbo reesponded...
Yes! Thank you. I couldn't agree more.
I've said this a few times, but let me reiterate: Dennis ("Slim", not "heavy") has been absolutely fantastic through this process. He was in contact with me throughout and I NEVER felt like I would be stuck. Now, as we are ending this process, he has...
Thoughts? Yes, I'd like to try one. But, unfortunately I don't have good access to one and the time that's involved in finding one and modding it to fit is just not in the cards, right now.
Yes. I have an App for that!
It's tough to tell, exactly, as I often have at least a few tows mixed in over the course of a tank. The only time I'm not really towing is over the winter - but then the winter is a bad time to judge fuel economy with the lower BTU fuel and extended idles...
Well, I FINALLY got the boat out of storage. It's been such a busy Spring/Summer that we haven't really had the time to do much boating and I've left it in storage until just recently. So, the other day I did another hill pull with the proper sized ATT turbine housing. Results were slightly...
An interesting point of view as I have experienced it in both places on the same truck...
I originally had it installed in the downpipe due to ease of installation (a shop did that one for me when I first bought the Sub). When I had the motor rebuilt, I had my mani's sitting on my workbench so...
I put the new turbine housing on last night. Went on super easy. I'll play with it for a week and so, then get some 0-60's. Once I "unhibernate" my boat, I'll get some towing done.
I bought a Valor unit from Crutchfield. I really like Crutchfield for their customer service. Prices are usually pretty good - not always the best, but awful close. They only time I've found better prices is from some place that has zero customer service. Crutchfield also send along...
In the late Spring to Fall I tow pretty heavy with it and I'm very happy with the performance/temperature handling of JK's clutch - I wouldn't want to alter that. Good thought, though.
Not sure that I would. See Guy's post... #9. I was mainly curious that if it would increase MPG a respectable amount I would give it a go. Doesn't seem like that's the case.
That's good enough for me. I was going to do it mainly to experiment. Me "guessing" that it wouldn't save much MPG is just that... a guess. I like to rely on real world experiences or, at the least, be able to comfortably transfer knowledge from one experience to another. In the sports world...
You guys are pretty ingenius!
It's unlikely I'd buy an electric fan as, assuming there would only be a very minor gain in MPG, it would take an awful long time to recoup the payback. Besides, I'd have to put the stock fan on during Spring, Summer and Fall when I'm towing.
Do you...
