Well I'm thinking of using like a 100 gallon tank in the bed and fab up a tank heater and then have an inline heater to keep the temps up and have a separate filtration and water separator system on that. Then use one of those tank switchers from an 80 something truck to switch between regular...
Yea I'm hoping to be around the 250 mark starting out. I have to see what time and money will allow me to do with everything. Kind of in a waiting game at the moment since everything's at the machine shop. I wish my head porting would have worked out. I'm really getting more interested in...
Hey I did a search on this on the fuel forum here but didn't see anyone pose the question or be able to answer it on my own. So my question is if WVO causes IP failure prematurely why wouldn't you mix in an additive with it to lubricate the fuel system to prevent this from happening? It just...
Haha yea I know what you mean. This is my first diesel so I want to do good with it. I'll have a solid setup when I get done but it's the getting done part that takes forever lol. And I could fabricate everything myself and do a solid axle in the front for the cummins swap but that'll be the...
Those last four words are the main thing there lol. Putting a cummins in would be piece of mind and lighter on the wallet that's for sure. It sounds way better to me to spend less and get more in terms of reliability, doesn't it to you there TD? I'm stuck though and the money's already spent so...
I'd try the stuff out on mine. I've got time while my rotating assembly's being balanced to mod if you need people to do it for testing purposes... Don't know if that would help you?
Hey now I know what three on the tree is and how to drive them and the piss outta other standard trans vehicles. My first vehicle was 2wd 77' gmc utility body w/ a 350 no rear brakes too lol.
I am however in total agreement with you that people need the good
kind of driver education you get...
Isn't that stock Duramax pump? And have you looked at that hfp953 pump off of 98-02 cummins that's been talked about in the Lift pump alternatives thread? PPE would be interesting though...
I'm still up in the air about doing this really. What I've arrived at is make the plug about an 1.5" long or so out of Loctite 2000 and fill the rest of that egr passage up with concrete block filler to help tie everything together. I would also use mesh in with the loctite 2000 to help tie it...
Well it was just a thought really was all and I've never really seen any Dmax stuff at all except yesterday was lookin at a head for one while at the machine shop there...
Yea I had thought of concrete earlier but I'm pretty sure that would have serious issues holding up to direct contact with exhaust over extended periods of time. But you do give me the idea now to make the plug out of putty like an inch or two thick and then pour concrete over it up to the top...
6.2 turbo- I have an idea on how to tie it all in together to help keep that from happening theoretically.
TD - Yes the pics help but if you have one with a head disassembled and can see down into the exhaust passage with the egr runner and with the valve taken out.
Right where the valve...
There's still a ridge there and exhaust gas leaving the port will catch on it and swirl into the egr runner I'm thinking. It's almost a why not thing for peace of mind. With a plug in place there's no possibility for any exhaust to enter that runner and cause turbulence or restriction to flow.
