    Another Lift Pump Thread

I would do a pressure/volume test on your lift pump. I have found when I can hear a lift pump "hammering" it is not getting fuel to pump. I suggest back blowing the fuel line from the lift pump to the tank (remove fuel cap first!), blowing from the lift pump to the ffm and do you have a lot of...

Diesel gelling and cloud points by region

This was exactly my problem, the FSU was changed by previous owner and a gas sock was installed. That is what sent me down the path to look into gelling and cloud point of the fuel. Thanks for all the replies on this thread, if I understand correctly most fuel is winterized at the refinery...

Diesel gelling and cloud points by region

A month ago I was in Minnesota when they had a cold snap. My diesel gelled up. The daily temps were in the low single digits and the nightly temps dropped to negative numbers, Fahrenheit. Oh well a tow, bottle of 911 and a night in a heated garage and I was on my way. I figured it was a...

    IP replace time?

Yes I did get a 5521s pump. I did not think of reprogramming the eprom, but as you said if I had to change it later it might not work as well on a new ip. Thanks Brian

    IP replace time?

After some consideration and thoughts of traveling to the frigid north in a week or two I did not feel I had the time to tinker with the IP so I bit the bullet! Purchased a freshly rebuilt IP and installed it. This was a tough decision and I know I probably would of gotten it fixed if I had...

    IP replace time?

Thanks for all the help it is running a 9 resistor, I replaced it when i moved the pmd off the pump. I agree the injectors need tested. The opti adjust has always scared me a little. I will read on the forum to see what I find about this procedure. I have had this burb for almost two...

    IP replace time?

I am getting about 5 to 6 psi out of the ffm at idle. I did check all the easy to reach glows, driver side and the front three on the passenger side. All checked out just below 1 ohms. I am also getting power to the glows that I was able to check. Thanks Brian

    IP replace time?

On my 95 burb it is getting a real hard cold start. Lots of white smoke that last 15 or more seconds and it does not sound right, the sound is too "soft" for a diesel cold start, also the engine has the diesel "rattle" but it is not as loud as it used to be when warmed up. The sound change has...

    finally scored a diesel Suburban!

All diesel burbs are 8 lug, "F" engines and all have the 4L80E trans. 2500 diesel burbs can have 3.73 or 4.10 axles, I have heard of a couple of burbs badged as 2500 but they had 3.43 axels, this is vary rare. Being that it is a 94 it is OBD 1 where as your 97 is OBD 2 so no programming switch...

JVC HD radio install & feedback for my 6.5 friends

HD radio is not satellite radio. HD radio is nice but I would never trade it for my satellite radio. HD radio is a digital radio station broadcast, it offers a nice clean sound but requires a special receiver to get it. If I were to replace my radio/DVD/satellite system I would look into HD...

6.2 boost compaired to 6.5 boost

Thanks for the fast replies. If I do this I plan on a full dissemble and a rebuild with updates that I think are worthwhile. It will probably take me all winter to find time and money. The wife will kill me. Thanks, I know I will be back with many more questions. Brian

6.2 boost compaired to 6.5 boost

I am under the impression that a stock 6.2L with a banks turbo needed to be limited to 10 psi max boost, where as a 6.5 turbo you would want it limited to 15 psi boost. If you exceed these numbers and held the engine there you could blow it up I am also under the impression that the 6.2 and...

    Fender fresh air vent

I might be way off base here but open your door while driving down the road at 60 mph or so. You will notice the door will not shut on it's own, there is a dead spot where the door will kind of hang open. Where the door hangs is the narrow vacuum of "dead air" surrounding the sides of the...
