    Another Arrival At The Refuge

The 93 I started this thread over runs and drives. The clutch is very weak and the brakes barely work besides all the rust on the body. It will be on the back burner for a while. Many other projects in line ahead of it. I have 3 nv4500 trucks now and may possibly get another 93 with one in it.I...

    Hummer Fan clutch setup

Very interesting. Thanks for posting. Crazy high temps allowed. No wonder there is so many take outs. Now the real question. How do we civilians get our hands on a set up like that? I have 7 of the v-belt clutches but would never switch anything to a v-belt.

    6.5 Problems

If the grey box wasn't mounted on a heat sink it will fry very quickly. The best place to mount them is behind the license plate inside the front bumper. You will need a extension cable to do that. Check out PMDCABLE.com

    Timing issues Help

Forget actual and desired. What really counts is what it is set at in time set. You want + 3.5 while in time set. Then do tdco to -1.5 or whatever you want it at. Actual and desired is the ecm commanding the stepper motor and what is really happening. Time set puts the stepper motor all the way...

    6.5 Problems

The vent in the fuel cap is important. Try running with it loose. All the grounds Must be cleaned. It does sound like PMD failure but the other things need to be checked first to eliminate them as possibilities.

    I just got a 1993 for free

454 is externally balanced. No doubt different than a 6.2 or 6.5. How do you tear up a turbo 400 ?:???:

    Another Arrival At The Refuge

:D You have as many sitting around outside as I do! :hihi: I only have room for 6 inside at a time. No permanent heat in the winter either, yet.:nonod:

    93 Chevy 6.5

It should be worth all of that and more. Just a nv4500 transmission at a junkyard costs more than $900. Just because of the weight of the truck they are worth more than $500 for scrap. You can always offer less to see if The seller will take less. You might want to consider getting a cab for...

    External to Internal Slave Cylinder

As far as I know, the slaves are external.[I could be wrong] Try taking your starter off without removing it[the slave] first. I'd be very cautious about buying one off of egay. What do you do if something goes wrong with it. At least if you have it done locally, you can get in their face about it.

    a little bonus

Actually I was thinking of gluing some steel there to hold it. The glue now days will hold anything to anything.

My 6.5 ran perfect Sunday morning! not the dog like usual. But I don't know why?

93 has no boost solenoid but wastegate actuator[gm turbomaster] may have been stuck open untill sunday. Check for binding or stiff linkage.

    a little bonus

Extended cab roof is double layer most of the way back. Regular cab is single layer. I think David did a install on a regular cab in the interior section.

My 6.5 ran perfect Sunday morning! not the dog like usual. But I don't know why?

Free stuff first. Try driving with the fuel cap loose. A plugged vent in the cap can cause fuel starving[doggy] How old is the fuel filter? The downhill smoke is normal. My dad's Dodge would do it also. 3 trannys is unusual with those miles. The 4l80e trannys are very stout. I have more than 1...

    Trans ID Help?

SM465 Was used from at least the 70s to early 90's. Very tough tranny but no overdrive. I had a 78 3/4 ton with one and have a 91 3/4 ton with one.

Will these rims fit my truck?

:???::???: Idiot tire monkey with a large impact wrench breaks 2 wheels. There isn't a wheel made that is indestructible given the right abuse. Maybe you need to start your own "i Hate PYO wheels" thread instead if hijacking this one. I may start a "I Hate Alcoa Wheels " thread.

Will these rims fit my truck?

Most aluminum wheels aren't forged. Weld racing is one of the few that are. They cost double what most other wheels cost. Prone to cracking if you do what to them? I have 6 sets of the pyo wheels and haven't had any structural trouble nor have I heard of any from any one else. As you said "just...

External oil cooler vs internal rad one....

Why shouldn't you be able to tow with big tires? I see lifted trucks towing all the time. It does look funny that they have to have a 12 inch drop ball mount.

    Valve cover Bolts?

    1995 Tahoe ignition switch issues

You shouldn't really use oil in a lock cylinder. It makes dirt stick and gets gummy . Dry graphite is the right stuff to use. The lock cylinder is a real PIA to get out if the key will no longer work. Much easier to replace the cylinder while it still works if it is giving grief. Not that...

    Valve cover Bolts?

Thanks. It seems the more of these I do ,the more carried away I get.:ohmy1: The heater hose/tube attaches to the center 2 bolt /studs on the lower intake on the trucks. Subs may be different if they have rear heat/ac.:???:
