You have to use a 97 fan clutch on a 9 blade fan. The fan clutch you have now has a different fan mounting bolt pattern. I can get pics if that would help.
A 9 blade steel fan off a 97? or98 6.5 would be a big improvement . They are cheap and plentiful at the junkyards and on car-part.com. Last I checked they were $20 at most places. Vans also used the same fan and clutch.
Some of the military IPs have hardened internal parts so they can run lower grade fuel that has less lube in it. I would have to think the "arctic" ip's are rather hard to find.
The actual length of the ips varies. You would need the injector lines to go with a older shorter ip. Your 91 should...
Many have had good luck with the GM cooling tabs. It might be worth the try. Brooklyn Tow has kept his going on those for quite a while.
It might stall it for you long enough to really be ready to do it.Better to do it at your leisure than, have to do it now.
Most of mine won't start cold without the glow plugs. Once the engine has run they should start without them.
You can bypass the glow plug controller with jumper cables connecting the big terminals together. The glows drawv100 amps so a jumper wire would have to be large and easy to disconnect...
The 94-94 6.5 diesels are unique. Snap on never did figure out how to get accurate readings on them. They are different from other obd1 cars and trucks.
An extra ground to the dash frame or body worked for me untill I found the fried connector. The ground on the harness is the ground for all the dash and instrument cluster. Going to the body would relieve some of the load on the harness ground.
Snap on scan tools especially a MT2500 don't work on a 94-95 chevy diesels. A Tech1 Or Tech 2 or GMTDscantech software with a laptop computer and obd1 connecting cable will be able to read the ecm codes and give sensor readings. If your truck is actually a 93 there is no ecm or tcm if it is a...
I bought a 2 blown 6.5s from a guy that switched to a 454. He had the whole donor truck to get the wiring harness out of. It was the same year donor truck. You will need the fuel pump and fuel lines from a donor also.
I'd have to agree with GW . Do able, but not worth it in my opinion.
Rusty fuel and return lines. They can leak just enough to siphon the fuel back into the tank. Usually between the lift pump and tank on both lines. The rear brake line rusts out in the same area.
The Amsoil nanofibre air filters are made by Donaldson[Minneapolis MN]. Not shure about their oil filters. I've used the NAPA gold oil filters for 30 or more years and have had no oil related issues ever. I change oil every 2500-3000 miles.
The ECM compares the engine rpm with the input rpm and output rpm. Any mismatch in speeds indicates a slip somewhere. The TCC solenoid is a common failure.
When I put the complete kit in my tranny , all I really needed was the 1-2 shift solenoid. At over $50 for fluid alone, I didn't want to...
