I've had/have 6.2 n/a and the fleet of 6.5s.
The 6.2 was a 91 k2500LD 3.70 gears 700r4 Banks 3" exhaust and the IP turned up a 1/2 turn Normal driving I got 20-22mpg.Only had smoke if I floored it or was towing heavy. I did get as high as 28mpg on a 400 mile interstate run.I never had a egt...
A bad belt tensioner can take out the rubber in the pulley also while it is eating the bearings out of all the accessories.
My olds 5.7 diesels had the lower hose clamp with a shield.
Where I live, my only choices were Hughsnet or Wildblue at over $60 /mo or Netzero dialup @$9.95/mo. Now you can get a cell phone card for around $60/mo. The cell card and Hughs net both have limits on how much data you can access.
Hughsnet also wanted over $500 for the equipment.
Finishing this one off
About all that was left to remove was the rear axle. I still don't understand a semi-floating axle in a 8600 gw truck:???: I didn't bother trying to save the u-bolts that hold the axle to the springs. On the semi-floating axles they rust off. These were down to about...
Not just waste vegetable oil but waste motor oil and waste tranny fluid, and waste hydraulic oil. There's a lot of things the optical sensor doesn't like. Maybe change the ecm program to use a magnetic signal the same as the crankshaft position sensor?????
I have 3 obd2 trucks and will need to scan and time them eventually. A obd2 version of scantech would be great. I hate the tiny screens of the expensive scan tools.
I use the valve cover style. NAPA 2-9445 Under $50. If your valve seals and rings are good you don't get a turbo full of oil. Be shure the mesh is inside the valve cover breather hole.
A little more progress
I got the steering, front brakes, hubs ,steering knuckles, steering box, cv axle shafts and front differential all removed. Cv axles are both shot. They will be going for scrap.
About all that's left is the rear axle. I'm not saving the springs. I have at least 4 sets now.
What I ment is that if you got one that had/has water in the cylinders it would have to be rebuilt. The last time I priced out getting the block machined it was $850. The rebuild kits with new pistons, rings gaskets, ect were $900 or more.
Much better off buying 3 or more engines and having at...
The real gamble with these engines seems to be if they capped the intake and exhaust . It seems very common that they aren't capped and just thrown outside not in the watertight containers. At least 2 of the 8 that I bought were full of water. They will have to be bored[$800 for machining] and...
A lot of times the bulbs turn dark colored and don't light as good as they should. New bulbs-sockets may make it much better. 1 bulb being dark or not working can darken a big area of the cluster. It may be possible to get a higher watt bulb or LED conversion that fits. Too much draw could fry...
88-98 hoods fit.You can take the sound insulation off your and put it on the new one.Hoods are pretty cheap at junkyards. Having it painted to match is what would be expensive. Get one the same color.
The worst part is the tranny fluid dripping on you the whole time and having to work around the drain pan. Really shouldn't take more than a couple hours total.
