Not sure what you're talking about. I never had a problem torquing head bolts in a truck.
GM doesn't reccomend decking these heads. Anytime you have them off, you should take a long straight edge ( i use a steel rule ) and check for warpage. The limit is .003" warpage long ways down the...
rubber bushing crank pullies came out in the 84 model year 6.2 and continued up through the 6.5 years. 82 and 83 trucks with the factory accessory drive will have a solidly mounted crank pulley.
PSD injectors are cheap compaired to commonrail injectors of the dmax and cummins. Good rebuilt units that are flow matched can be had for 150 to 180 a piece.
Me too Bud. I drove a base truck with an fx4 package, steel wheels and non chrome front grill (UGLY). it stickered for 46. I paid right at 40 for my 2010 ram 2500 with more options (it stickered for 45.2k, still less than the ford). They offered to sell the truck to my grandfather for 39k under...
It probably had straight water or the coolant was too thing and it cracked over the winter. I had a parts block do the same thing recently that now sits atop the pile at the local scrap yard. 6.2 blocks should be cheap where ever you find them. They aren't always as easy to find as you would...
Excellent review. The only thing is that it only has the water to air intercooler. No air to air. It does have 2 radiators though. Did you happen to look at that mess under the hood. Its insane! But all in all, the truck's throttle response is GREAT. Most likely due to piezo injectors and the...
how does that engine stand like holding the weight of the cummins? mine would probably wad up like aluminum foil. It doesn't like for a 6.2 to be on it.
Are you talking about a stocker? While i've heard the p400 used a forged crank, I know that all the gm versions are cast iron cranks.
I wouldn't even bother with it unless it was enough stroke to illiminate the oversquare bore to stroke ratio in my engine.
6.5L + .25" stroke = 6.9L 420ci. 6.2 + .25" stroke = 6.6L 404ci. I've been thinking about this recently. Wonder how much scat would charge for a stroker crank? Shorter rods would be in order as well adding to the cost of something like this.
I've never seen more than 210* with my 6.2 turbo. It actually ran a little bit hotter before the turbo. I think this is due to the old coolant and probably scale buildup before. While i had the truck apart, i flushed the cooling system and refilled my system with new coolant/distilled water at a...
The banks kits i've seen use a spacer for the mechanical lift pump. The spacer has the drain tube for the oil return. Not sure if they require a longer push rod for the pump or not.
I drove one last week. They run well. Not really "All New" like Ford advertises. The Fuel door on the bed is HUGE because it has a DEF fill nozzle as well as diesel fill nozzle.
I put my probe in the passenger side mani right below the turbo inlet. In retrospect, I wish i would have put it in the drivers side manifold at the collector. That would give you a more accurate egt since its not getting cooled while traveling through the crossover pipe. Either way will work.
