    Air intake for MAF trucks.

That looks great, but how do you proposed to keep the hot engine bay air out of the intake? Looks like it will flow much more than my homemade intake!! Todd

Taking the Family and the Burb to New Brunswick

New Thermostat maybe. I replaced both before my 4000 mile trip. Made a huge diff. in temps along with the rad, condenser, oil and tranny cooler cleaning. Have fun.

    my 4,000 mile trip

Tookie, I understand and agree with what you are saying, but that speed would have made my trip sooooo much longer.

    my 4,000 mile trip

I don't really know if these are the original injectors. I probably should change them out. How difficult of a job is that? We did have some "stuff". A wife and 4 children. It all fit in the Suburban with room to spare. Suburbans are awesome! I believe that I have the 3.42 gears. Yes, the...

    my 4,000 mile trip

My estimated 4000 mile trip was really only 3976 from my driveway to Mount Rushmore back to my driveway last night. Odometer before leaving: 236,038 miles Odometer upon returning: 240,012 miles The "big girl" did awesome. The only time that I saw temps above 193 degrees F was on long...

Did some much needed work this weekend

Sorry to make you keep repeating yourself, gmctd. I will keep an eye on the intake for oily residue. It was not squeaky clean, but not as much oil as before.

Did some much needed work this weekend

Removed the turbo inlet hose and not a drop of oil in there. The cleaned CDR must be working properly. Still running cool and fixed my small coolant leak. (Probably would have decided to blow coolant all over the place 2000 miles from home if I had not fixed it.) This site is great. Thanks, Todd

Did some much needed work this weekend

Thanks JMJNet, would I be able to see it if I crawled under the truck? Sounds like an easy fix if it is accessible. Going to the hardware store tonight for other things, do you know what size tee I need. Todd

Did some much needed work this weekend

I removed the CDR and cleaned it with the recommended Autozone engine degreaser (thanks GMCTD). Changed the oil and filter. Changed the fuel filter (be careful how you seat the new filter, you could damage the gasket and have diesel fuel leak everywhere. Ask me how I know!!) Checked the...

    CDR

Just soak in diesel fuel or paint thinner? Which is better? Heath says over night. Can it get clean quicker than that?

    CDR

Is one CDR better than another? Heath: $99 SSDiesel: $60

    CDR

Did someone once post a thread on how to "recondition" the CDR valve? Seems like I remember that, but I searched and could not find. I am getting some blow-by to the turbo. I will be taking a long trip soon and want to correct the problem before I go. Should I just get off my cheap butt and...

    NEED HELP FAST!!!

Should be electrically operated (the only vacuum is the original turbo controller). From the driver's side, look at the duct work on the floor at the center "hump". My 1999 has a little servo type motor with 2 screws (I think) and a wire connector. My wife has the truck right now so I cannot...

Slim and Doc, You guys are awesome, but you are killing me with anticipation!! This is worse than Christmas.

Whose Fan clutch (aftermarket) kicks on earliest?

Missy, If you fabricated this, I am sure other unskilled people (like myself) would buy this cooling mod. Todd

    88894035?

I believe Heath was saying that the 48 gpm and 22 gpm was the flow to the passenger side of the engine, not the total flow of the water pump. As to the model numbers, I don't have a clue. Todd
