I just replaced the IP on the Burban and the timing is way off.
Is there anyone in the Raleigh, NC that has the proper tools (IP wrench and Tech tool) and know-how to do this?
Thanks,
Todd
After a brief discussion with Turbine Doc about what kind of Suburban I have, I might have a bit of an oddball.
Here is what I believe that I have:
GMC Suburban C1500 w/6.5 TD, 8 lug axles, 4x4
Tim asked me to post my VIN also:
3GKGK16F4XG543310
According to LMC Truck, my VIN is as...
OK, I drove the suburban home today!!
Found out that I crushed the OPS wires together under the intake manifold causing a short. Repaired wires and replaced the OPS while I was in there.
Thank you all for your help/suggestions. Very special thank you to Turbine Doc for his help.
I need...
I drove it to brother-in-laws shop, so everything working as it should till I worked on it.
Where is glow plug relay? I will double check all wiring.
Thanks,

Now, when I turn the key, I get NO wait to start, NO lift pump, and NO glow plug cycling.
Any suggestions? I checked the fuse box, and did...

Anyway, no wait to start light, no glow plug cycling and no lift pump running. What...

I am a little nervous about not using a gasket. What about using a little bit of RTV on either side of the gasket?

I need to replace the valve cover gaskets. I see "tons" of oil that looks to be coming from the valve covers.
Is there a gasket other than the Felpro cork gasket? I might as well get the best if there is a better one out there.
Also, it probably would be a good time to change out the...
The truck starts and runs great. Just a little smoke at startup and no extra knocking. Seems to have decent power, although, I have not driven another 6.5 to compare.

Would it be possible that my injectors are allowing more fuel in the cyliners than they are supposed to when I let off the go pedal? (leaking into the cylinder)
