If you look at his original thread on the mirrors - the diodes are used to allow the LED's to be lit with the parking lights, and then blink with the respective signal. Much like the side markers on the front of the truck.
I do wonder why not just feed the LEDs on the mirror from said side...
I think buddy was suggesting connecting your voltmeter from pin G to ground, and monitoring for voltage. It should indicate the OPS function with respect to the lift pump. I think Mudbath posted the link to reference which pin G was.

Our 99 had the decals when we got it. Too bad they were pealing and already missing letters (and the wife really didnt like them anyway)
I have debated replacing them... at least for my 95.
FYI - that fold down adapter will 'rattle' some. I used to have one, but it was really annoying. I used to have it on a mirror mount. Not sure how it will be with the roof mount.
I couldnt agree more on the locker - after plowing this winter for the first time without one ( the 95 Burb ) its been hell! I am looking at a Lok-Rite or Powertrax. Even considered one for the front!
Another thought - have you verified that you dont have an aftermarket security system (or remote start) installed? Oddly our 99 had previously had a remote start in it that had been removed. When I installed the one we have now, I had found that someone had already cut & spliced the passlock...
