I took the belt off and checked the crank, there does not seem to be any play in it or anything. a piston seizure sounds like it could be the problem. i will post up pics when i pull the motor apart and show what exactly happened, thanks guys
after posting the "30 minutes of smoke" thead some people confirmed i had an injector fail. I had to drive it 45 minutes like that until I got it back home, but i think thats where i made a mistake. I tried to start it today and it ran for about 3 seconds before violently coming to a shuddering...
I was messing with the truck today and i think my problem is more than needing new injectors... i tried to start the truck and heard a really weird sound coming from the motor. it sounded almost like something loose in the motor making a clanking sound and it wouldnt start
anyone know a good place to buy new bosch injectors? Heath diesel has them for a little under 600 bucks and i cant find any places selling them cheaper
I started my truck last night and it smoked for about 30 minutes. it was burning raw diesel. I started it this morning to drive it back from arkansas and it smoked for about the same amount of time. when it was running i could tell it was missing. so after the smoke finally cleared up i started...
Im pretty sure its the stock one that came on it, the truck has never had any major work done and has pretty low miles for its age. Where can I find the number on it?
Ive thought about re locating the passenger side battery and running the filter out where the head light would go. Mechanical IP, not sure if thats the number or not though
My 92 C3500 has been a very reliable daily driver for some time now, and I have definently gotten my money back out of it. Due to the crazy price of diesel, im buying a car to drive everyday. Im thinking about seeing how far I can push the envelope performance wise. Im not trying to blow the...
I never thought about the t stat until yall mentioned it haha. that makes perfect sence. I remember when I got the truck this last summer it was 95F outside and the truck ran at about 170 to 180 all summer which was nice. It never got hotter than that, even towing. It does act like it dont want...
I dont know if its normal or not but since its been in the 20s and 30s for awhile now my truck wont heat up to more than about 120-130 degrees. Its warm enough to make the heater work good, but I can tell its killing the fuel milage not having the motor warmed up all the way. This is my first...
I-44? A lot of the bigger citys just put salt down and call it good and dont bother actually plowing roads haha. Good thing about the part of the state I live in they dont put salt down, just fine gravel for traction. I would hate to see how bad all of that salt would corrode the frame right out...
Since I turned up my injection pump I noticed my truck is pulling more boost. Normally, driving around town and up most hills, the boost guage never moved. Now it seems to be at about 2 psi on the same hills at the same speeds. the waste gate on the truck is the stock one, before it was only...
Haha yea exactly!! It rarely gets 7 degrees around here, so I had to leave it unplugged just to see how it would do! When its cold like that it actually sounds like my 1964 John Deere 1010 Diesel starting! the tractor has the original motor still so I dont know if them sounding the same is good...
oh. so i probably need to pull the pump back apart and figure out where it goes. its just so cold outside im not really looking forward to messing with it haha
It got down to 7 degrees F last night and of course i forgot to plug up my truck, luckily it fired right up this morning, i didnt have to crank the engine for more than 3 seconds :)
