Definitely not abandoned ... i was looking under my brothers duramax the other day that happened to have an aux tank before he purchased it and the guy used the 80's GM tank switch to gravity transfer from his aux tank into his stock tank (on a switch)... so i could set mine up that way for now...
Would building a steel water tank be an absolute no-no because of obvious rust issues? I was thinking about building my 200L fuel tank and a 100L water tank bolted to each other...
Also if i gravity fed the fuel tank will it over flow if i dont pay attention or will it just fill to the cap...
Those buggers... I know that DSG is the biggest screwjob in Saskatchewan but i called them up and they claimed they could do it...
I have ScanXL OBD II tool... would i be able to time it with that?
And no, i have no idea what it was before i changed it.
Ok... But im putting a new ECM in from Bill when i get home and he told me to get the timing proper using the GMTD Scan before i put the new box in... I dont know how i would be able to get it right by eye..
I plan on taking it to GM and getting it done properly when i get off my 3 week shift here but until then i was more so concerned with what kind of damage will be done by it being timed improperly...
I don't have the proper tools to get in there and do it properly...
I have not confirmed my glow plugs are working properly but i would assume they are because when i fire it up it puffs a good shot of white then clears for a second then little puff of white then clears up (assume it clears up because of the after glow cycle)...
Yes it only started after the...
I ended up changing the pump because i needed to get out to work (750km one way) and couldn't continue trying to trouble shoot the issue... Seems to be running fine although i haven't got the pump timed properly... I picked it up wednesday evening, ripped into the truck until 1am that night...
My pressure gauge is a little excessive so i dont trust how accurate it is at low psi but... it is about 6 psi at idle and WOT seems to be around the 2-4 range
Ok. My heavy duty mechanic of an uncle is finally home and i'm going to shoot over and borrow his fuel pressure test guage.
How would i check for air in the IP lines... From the filter to the pump (that line)?
I've verified flow is fine... in 2 minutes it flowed out 11.25 cups which is close enough to the 12 it should be... So i phoned up Bill and he is fairly certain its my injecton pump ... particular the timing portion is sticking likely because of scoring...
I just went out and bought a new...
I just did the 2000 RPM test... I slowly depressed the accelerator until it started to pick up rpm ... held my foot there and the truck would pick up to about 1400rpm then it seemed to continue to rev up to 2200 ish... when i tried to slowly let it come down it seemed as if it would just drop...
New problem... 4 times today i tried to start it and without putting my foot into it the truck would turn over a pile then hump hump and level out but put itself in limp mode ... Tossed all the old codes but when i clear them it leaves :
P0251 - Injector pump 1 rotor/cam
Is this my PMD...
Right on. One quick question though... I work in the oil field in the summers and have to put a Positive air shut off valve on my truck because of H2S gas + diesels = boom. In doing this i have to cut a couple inches out of the intake tube to fit the valve between the turbo and intak... Is...
Yeah you're probably right and yes i am getting a reflash with no EGR or MAF ... I actually found a guy that had a non EGR intake from BC and its on its way as we speak. I had no idea i could gut my EGR intake into a non-EGR, i'll have to compare the two when i get all my parts to the door.
