I replaced the hub bearings on my truck for 223 bucks apiece from auto parts warehouse, with ABS sensors and free shipping. They were Timkin bearings which is what the old hubs were. The old bearings were OK, I just did it for maintenance reasons as I was replacing the rotors any way.
Yeah-I remember milling heads on the flathead Ford V-8 back in the day. sometimes the valves would hit the head, so we would use 2 head gaskets to cure the problem. Of course these things did not have 400 PSI of compression either, so we got away with it ( damn kids) . With that in mind, I think...
Go to auto parts warehouse and get Timkin hub bearings for your K3500. It was the best price I could find. I got rotors there as well. Did the job 6 weeks ago and all is good.

This is the gauge, Matt. It was small and inexpensive, so that is why I used it. I plumbed into the hose going to the T valve with a "t" fitting and 1/8 pipe thread.then ran a copper tube into the cab. The gauge is...
Yesterday I decided to install a fuel pressure gauge. Matt seems insistent on this and I agree with him. Anyway during the process, it was evident that my lift pump was inop. Dead as a door knob. It amazed me as to how well the truck ran with out it. I mean it ran and started perfect. I don't...
I have always thought that the "addiction" part was from a result of slightly bent connecting rods from the use of ether, resulting in lower compression and difficulty starting after wards. Another shot of ether and it will start again resulting in an "etherhead " engine. I also have a tractor...
Ya gotta remove the transmission and flywheel and then carefully pry out the old seal. Then install a new one. Make sure everything is clean and there are no burrs to damage the new seal--
I have that funny sound too. If I put a folded large towel over the turbo it is not audible. MGW is correct in her conclusion. I really hear it if I am along side a building or in an alley. I have lived with it for a long time. Oh, and I don't leave the towel there, diagnosis only---
For the record, I drove around with an ABS lamp on for 3 years. So it would not bug me, I disconnected the ABS unit. I knew the problem was the l/f ABS speed sensor. Last week I decided to do the front brakes as the rotors were shot. So at the mileage it had, I thought I may as well replace the...
You could, I suppose, fashion a "hatch" in the bed right over the sender-fuel pickup area so you could access sock and other items without dropping the tank. Most of the cars I had when I was a kid had this access in the trunk.
