I had exact symptoms in the summer of '07. It did turn out to be the OPS. Did a fuel pump relay mod for piece of mind and a fuel pressure gauge after the replacement.

I would try another compression gauge. It seems odd that they would all be equally low. Does the engine have high mileage?

I had one that was stuck fast. Put a torch in the adjuster hole and cut it in half. There was absolutely no freeing it otherwise.

When I replaced my 9g plugs, they all came out like they were just installed. Not one of them were swollen. I guess that is the exception. Out of curiosity, what does cause the swelling that is mentioned so much?
