    Radiator Flush - ?

I took mine to the dealer since I didn't want to deal with the mess of 24 quarts and getting a good flush. None of the regular places like STS or R&S had the adapters to connect to the radiator hose. Went back with the Dex.

    11/15/09 Favorite Beer

Guiness Stout or Murphy's. I like the dark heavy beers, although a Coors light on a summer night is good while fishing.

Which oil do you guys recommend

When the temps get around 0 F I like the easy flow of a synthetic oil. The synthetic Rotella is running $19 a gallon and is still not a pure synthetic but a blend. For a couple dollars more, I would rather have a pure synthetic oil such as Mobil 1. Don't get me wrong, the Rotella is one of the...

Which oil do you guys recommend

No they don't, I have to buy 10qt bottles. Pain in the butt, but still worth it. They have asked me what I intend to do with the second filter since you get 2 but only use 1. I do now have a stock of Mobil 1 filters!

Which oil do you guys recommend

If you can wait, Autozone and Advanced Auto have a sale every couple of months. They sell 5qts. of any Mobil 1synthetic including the Turbo Diesel and a Mobil 1 filter for $29.99. Almost the same price as WalMart but you get a free filter this way.

Pump Rub Fix, which is best????

I had the Merchant fix done. My thought was if its going to be replaced, I only want to have to due it once. That being said, I think Kennedy or Rockland Gear will also work.

    Oil Filters?

Fram is garbage. Most of the other brand names are good including Wix/Napa Gold, AC Delco, Mobile 1, Baldwin, Amsoil.

Replacing shocks has never been this exciting

The first time I ever took a wheel and tire off a Cat 966, I put the jack in the wrong place, the axel. I got the tire off with the help of another guy in the shop and the whole loader shifted like it was going to roll over on us. Lesson learned the hard way.

I guess that explains why the truck was smoking! I'd say you got your money out of that filter.

So if your not going synthetic.....

On my 2002 you can't put synthetic in the front differential unless you change out the vent breather.

I'm the same, change out the Cat filter between 8-10K. At $18 its cheap insurance. I usually do 2 changes a year, one at summer before vacation I change both, and sometime in the winter just the Cat.

Transfer case fix? How hard to do it?

When I had the MA kit installed by my transmission guy, he hadn't heard of the problem. He did it about 1 year ago for me. This morning I ran into him while getting coffee and he told me since he did mine, he also did 4 more this past year with 4 different fixes from clips for all 4 taps to just...

    Lucas Oil Power Steering Fix

I flushed out the power steering fluid today. Took a little over 3 quarts. I went to Auto Zone and they didn't have a big choice of fluids so I used Valvoline. Night and Day difference with the brakes, the peddle is on top and feels strong. Steering feels good was never really much of an issue.

    Lucas Oil Power Steering Fix

I'm waiting for a warm day to flush out my steering fluid. I just plan to use a synthetic this time around. While sitting for a week at Christmas, I think the fluid froze.

Transfer case fix? How hard to do it?

As the saying goes, " the squeaky wheel gets the grease" I believe that only a very small fraction of the transfers cases have the problem, but those that do post on the problem. That is good to know there is a problem, but if all posted that never had the problem the site probably couldn't...

Transfer case fix? How hard to do it?

I had the MA kit put in by a local guy. As was stated, there are good writeups at the diesel place. If you do the fix, take a good look at your seal as that sometimes starts to weep a little. I had mine done at 86K and there was no sign of wear and the clip was still in place.

    Winterizing?

I've been doing it this way for about 15 years and never had a problem with a line that froze or burst. I also, when done disconnect the lines to the water pump in case there is water that didn't come out and this will give it a place to expand. By the time I'm done with the compressor I'm at 25...

    Winterizing?

I blow the lines out with the air compressor, about 10psi, then drain the hot water tank, pull the drain plugs and run the RV antifreeze in the traps and toilet. I leave the battery in all winter and will plug it in once or twice for a week or so to charge the battery. I have the 30 amp box...

Where not to install a fumoto valve

I've had it on my truck for 6 years now with no trouble. I'm going to put one on my wifes 08 Yukon XL that we bought in September. It is much easier and no mess with the nipple on it and some tubeing.

    NAPA Gold fuel filter

I have heard many people say they are just as good as the OEM, and some dislike the filter. I would put one on without any reservations. I have a Cat pre OEM so I only change the AC Delco once a year and I use the OEM since I go by the dealer and can live with paying an extra $6 or so over the...
