Well done Bruce! I know I-77 is a hilly ride. With that weight and mileage the 6.5 is doing a fine job.

I ended up paying 144 shipped. Granted there was one listed for 121 but then add 20 for shipping and your are in the same spot either way.

    Engine slow to warm up

I had the same issue a while back... The thermostats are not functioning properly. Get the correct 195F GM thermostats and you will be in good shape.

PMD question for all that have had one fail

When my PMDs failed they all did the typical stall out scenario. FWIW Heath stands behind their Isolator systems! I encourage anyone to buy these kits from Heath for the product quality and support. I had an Isolator PMD fail and Heath was on it with a replacement, no games.

I went ahead and ordered the Hayden 2839 severe duty from Amazon. The price was unbeatable and we have the Prime option so shipping is fast. ... It may not be the best, but I figure when the water pump dies I will upgrade to the 2000+ equal flow pump and Duramax fan/clutch at that time...

More info, the Hayden application chart: http://www.haydenauto.com/upload/HaydenAuto/Documents/Cat_Hayden/2007-hayden-fan-clutch.pdf Also it seems that the Imperial line is NLA and has been absorbed by Hayden. The 2839 Hayden Severe Duty part and 216013 Imperial are the same think.

    Fan Clutch time

Edit: I have a 9 blade 20" steel fan stock from 99. Not 8 blade. My bad. I see where Alexe is going with this idea. From the Hayden website, I agree that a 170 degree radiator temp might be just right. -30 from the coolant temp would be 200 degrees which is about when we would want the...

Did you notice that is locked up 15 degrees earlier? JK is a straight shooter and I like that he recommends reasonable changes w/o the hype. He has had unpopular thoughts in the past which seems to be proving true in the long run as well! But I will not go down that path at the moment.

Buddy, you are correct in theory. But the ones I were using were 265/70-17 which is almost identical OD to the 235/85-16s at about 31-32" diameter. So it is a fairly straight up comparison. Tanner, that is just crazy MPG right there! Nice work.

    Fan Clutch time

What is the best fan clutch out there these days? This for a 4 bolt setup and I already have the later 8 blade metal fan. Really I would like to just get a clutch... Some of the Severe Duty ads are claiming that you need 180F thermostats - which is not acceptable IMO. Anyway it...

Previously I had 265/70R17E on Hummer H2 wheels with TreadRight recaps on Mich LTX AT casings with Bridgestone Revo tread pattern. Clocked perfectly at 60 MPH. The new set I have only clocked at 40 MPH but the 235/85s were spot on at that speed. From my experience either of the above...

Updates: Changed wheels/tires to PYOs with Mich MS2 235/85 and gained 2MPG. 17.2 city mixed. Added the Walbro kit this weekend. I still cannot "roll coal" which is great and means that the turbo is letting all the fuel charge burn. The engine is actually a little bit smoother with the...

Changed wheels and tires to PYOs with 235/85R16E Michelin MS2 tires (Low Rolling Resistance). +2 MPG!!! Pretty bad traffic and still ended up with 17.2 City/mixed. My best ever for in town traffic! Also I just installed a Walbro lift pump... Not sure if that will help mileage or not, we...

I took the oil drain tube off to cut it with a metal chop saw. Turbonator, I like that idea for the TM! I just installed a 0-30 PSI boost gauge (up from 0-15) last night... Lets see what this HX40 is really putting down!

Cut the drain pipe and then "lengthen" the tube about 1/2" with a 3/4 hose and clamps. And you will need to clock the turbo body to the correct angle.

19.1 MPG 80/20 highway/city!!! On winter blend. Speedo is balls on accurate at 60 MPH. 3 times checked on the Rt 13 bridge to Norfolk, apparently they take speeding seriously there. HX40II = Mileage WIN!

Good stuff! Keep 'em coming. The only one here that I did not see a difference with was switching to Amsoil (synthetic) gear oils. Not a complaint, but no noticeable difference to me on mileage. I do believe that fuel treatment does help mileage... But perhaps just enough to pay for...
