I've got 60G plugs and they don't heat up nearly as fast as the old 9G's i took out, but they just require extended glow times. But even now, i give them extended time because it helps the engine idle better as soon as she starts and it keeps my glow plugs from getting all gunked up like they...
Which part of the east coast are you headed too?
My guess is Newfoundland or Nova Scotia :D I'd guess Labrador, but it seems only crazy people dare venture all the way out here LOL
I'd be afraid of gears grinding or binding and wearing the teeth down, which would cause some symptoms similar to chain clop. That's what i would assume could happen.
I drove 4 tires down bald on my 98 K1500 (all on the front end) all with way too much positive camber, driving them very hard all the time, had 3 plugs in one tire and about one in each (i used to work in some hharsh places) and never had a separation.
I'm hoping for the best with the KM2's i...
I've got crappy Ebay "projector" housings (projector because it looks like one, but isn't at all) and the light output is terrible...but i bought them for looks. They need HID's in them to even be able to see at night. Soon i'm gonna hack these up and retrofit an actual projector housing in each...
Hey, i'm over the next province over in Labrador. I was out in Quebec City in the fall in my 6.2L lifted K5 for a Muse concert, it was a great trip and a beautiful city/province.
I'm far from bilingual though, so i had a bit of trouble :P
That is a very nice and very clean truck! I'm a big fan of the emerald green metallic colour. I had a 98 in that colour and i didn't like it at first, but it grew on me the first time i did a good wash and wax to it (it was covered in scratches and swirl marks).
Once i got it shining good, it...
Is their any differences in the glow plug harness for the 82+ older body style of trucks?
I'd like to have a nice harness for myself, i could probably make it but wiring drives me nuts LOL
I have the naturally aspirated older brother to your truck (mostly all black 1983 GMC Jimmy/6.2)
Glad to hear it's back and running, just read through the whole thread. I know it couldn't have been cheap what you had to do.
Ouch!
I was afraid of something like that happening to my truck when it was sitting up for a few weeks. It spent 2 weeks in my shop, with a revolving door of people working around it, coming in and out and i was afraid there was something dropped and was hiding deep in my intake....just waiting...
My cables are all making clean contact, as i've been trying my hardest to make this thing run perfectly without spending too much money (still about $5000 extra into this truck now though LOL). The ground cables are the oldest and smallest cables on the truck now, so it might be time to go and...
I need to replace the ground cables, so i will check PTwiring out :D
The starter currently in the vehicle is an ACDelco unit, the GR starter i bought before it was a Bosch SR577X unit and the stock one was a DD and appears to have been on the vehicle since the early 90's, PO told me he bought...
Seeing as how i went through hell with the DD starter this winter (imagine having to get a boost weekly with fairly new batteries and cables, alternator, etc.) then being given a battery charger/booster for christmas from my parents LOL
So far the cold weather ability of mine is a big plus.
It can still crank the engine over though, even not plugged in overnight in below freezing temperatures, which would kill the batteries trying to spin the DD starter (which would spin as slow as molasses). So i'm not complaining LOL The past winter was hell on me as everyday, i was unaware...
