I love my 6.0, many many other folks love theirs as well. I chuckle every time I run across a thread like this where a bunch of folks with little or no experience with the 6.0 bad mouth it to death. I figure the more crap people talk, the cheaper I can buy my next one.
FIRST- Get an OASIS...
I've got a bead on an 06 LBZ. Beautiful truck, but it's got 140k on the clock.
What parts should I plan on replacing if I buy a truck with that kind of mileage? Are there any drivetrain concerns at that mileage?
I'm in the market for a Duramax. I've wanted to get back to a Chevy ever since I sold my 95 6.5TD suburban for a 03 F250 6.0TD, and now I'm ready to do so.
My budget seems to put me in the neighborhood of an 2003 to a 2006. What I'm seeing in my price range is the older vehicles with less...
Thanks Nick. I appreciate the info!
I'm afraid the only way I'll get into a LBZ is if I buy a rebuilder and do the work myself, but I'll keep my eyes open and hope I get a good insurance check.
I just wanted to post to get subscribed here. My Ford hit the bottom of the lake last weekend, so I might be in the market again.
So far, it sounds like LBZ is the way to go.
EDIT- Why is the 6spd auto so much better than the 5spd?
I'm a whopping 231 years old - in dog years. Although with 4 kids tearing the house apart every day (3 of 'em are less than 6 years old), most times I feel about 616 years old - again.. in dog years.
BTW: This is a fun thread to read, for my first visit here in a while.
I experienced the same with my 95 Burb. However, for 99.99% of the driving I did, they worked just fine.
They rubbed most often when turning into driveway approaches with a bit of a bump. I don't recall if I ever heard them rub otherwise.
Ebay LINK
I have this guy saved as a favorite seller on my Ebay account. He mostly deals with Powerstroke stuff, but happens to have a 6.5 he's parting out. The auction linked above is for the ECM, but he says that he's parting out the entire engine.
I'm in Sioux Falls often, as it's...
:iamwithstupid::yesnod:
Don't ask me how I know that either...
Tearing the turbo out again after oil dribbles all over under the truck is the penalty for forgetting to replace that stupid little gasket.
Are you kidding?
Step away from the computer. Slide under the front of the truck. Remove the 4 bolts that hold the skid plate up (if you have one), and look at the balancer and pulley.
The balancer is between the pulley and the timing cover. There is a thin ring of rubber between the outer...
Congrats on your first turbo pull!
(random post to let the ol' foggies here know I still venture in here from time to time)
I miss my old 6.5. I pulled the turbo on my 6.0 a couple of weeks ago for the first time and it took me darn near a whole day in the driveway.
