Fire Department handheld, Amateur mobile unit, and CB on occassion.
If/When I get a 2nd truck for "MY" response vehicle, it'll have a FD mobile radio, Amateur mobile radio, Citizen's Band radio, charger for my FD handheld and light, and a MDT.
Yeppers yesireee yep yes. Most indubitably.
The wife said she saw the shift fork sheared off inside, I couldn't because I was trying to get the lock ring open, balance the damn thing on the table, and pry the case open at the same time... and it kicked my butt, so I said FUUUU and went and took...
1: I HATE NEVADA, you shall see why here
2: this does not bode well when you pull the case down and it rattles and has squiggly things coming out of the ends
Heck, copy them over now as an addition to the transfer case DIY thread here http://www.thetruckstop.us/forum/showthread.php?17764-t-case-pump-rub-fix
it'd be a great place for them for those that have to go further in depth (like myself) with disassembly...... beyond just changing out the...
thanks, just wanted to know if I needed to mule on this thing something fierce or if it should be shifting easily. I felt play up front so it's just a matter of applying as much force as I can given that it's on jackstands in the driveway.
awesome. thanks.
Anyone know if the slip yoke has enough play to pull the driveshaft with the rear wheels on the ground (say, 1.5" so I can clear the pinion ears for the rear U-joint) or if I need to put this up on a lift?
Tried for about 10 minutes to get it to budge enough to pull the...
Yeah, best thing I can guess is when the case stopped going into 4x, that the fork itself broke off IN the case and just stayed out of the way until our shakedown trip with the trailer.
*I* heard, wife didn't hear, an odd whining noise.
Stopped, nothing found, no drips.... then on the way...

I mean, maybe I'm being a prick now.... but right out the gate I would be looking at the weight I wanted to haul, and would have bought something new, or used, specifically to be able to...
Had Polaris Military 800's when I was active duty. No complaints there.
FD has Yamaha Grizzly's for wildland/offroad rescue, plus a 6x6 2 seat side by side with patient litter and back seat for patient care. Both are great.
I'm personally looking at an 04 Polaris Sportsman 500 6x6 for myself...
Yeah, I was figuring it'd be the IP and possibly injectors. I think it's got about 80k on it now miles wise, and USLD probably hasn't helped things any to be honest.
Do newer IP's deal with USLD any better or will I still need to go heavy on the additive?
All being said, $200 for injectors...

This is a video of my CUCV at startup, idle, and running it up. I'd like to know what possible causes of this could be. It's significantly worse during cold weather, this was at about 80F ambient.
It's still running and going, but this smoke is extremely...
Get a frigging Land Rover Defender 110 and call it a day. Parts are easy to get down there, the diesel rattles along happily with good mileage, and they offroad fantastically in their stock configurations.
There's no guarantees. The department I worked for was paid-on-call. IE, pager went off, if I responded I was on the clock.
For a fire service area larger than connecticut. Effectively volunteer.
From my experience up north, oil-field firefighting is volunteer. IE, they support current workers volunteering with the field FD and they can drop their "real job" with full company approval to conduct FD duties.
One such example, North Slope fire department... some temp hires in the summer...
Mmm... not really.
lost our house in Alaska since both of us lost our jobs, moved to housing family owns in nevada and having to support 2 adults and a 2 y/o kid off a fixed income of a grand a month VA disability... didn't know that nevada has worse unemployment than basically anywhere other...
